/India PRwire/ - Sage Software India announced today its solution for Engineering Services and Project Consulting companies across disciplines, namely, electrical, mechanical, electronics, construction, architectural and those addressing infrastructure. These companies execute projects wherein tracking Project Budget and Actuals for material, labour, revenue and other expenses is essential. Companies in this business segment execute a wide range of projects across industry verticals which makes it important for them to adopt best practices.

In order to deliver on milestones within budget you need to have effective co-ordination and communication between the various departments involved, coupled with accurate tracking of materials, expenses and revenues. In other words, you require a strong project management and job costing mechanism built into a robust accounting system.

“We are very focused on this segment and have built up significant domain expertise with our implementation partners across India. Sage believes in adding value to its customers and will continue taking a ‘solutions approach’ to address the needs of this segment. We already have a number of customers in India using Sage Accpac ERP with our Project & Job costing solution. This is a unique offering from Sage and differentiates us in the marketplace for small and medium businesses, said, Thomas Abraham, Managing Director, Sage Software India (P) Ltd”. He added further, “We have identified about 800 Indian companies in this segment who are ready for a solution with an overall market size of Rs 160 crores. We have over 10 companies in this segment using our solution already in India and have embarked on a focused program to build our presence in a more comprehensive manner”.

Business Challenge

· For every project, post analysis and requirement scoping, a detailed design and component selection is undertaken. A Bill of materials is then created which goes to the purchase department wherein it has to be logged in against the specific project. In such a complex scenario there is a major challenge in material management, tracking and planning.

· Also since there are various costs that have to be incorporated into the project billing, such as material cost, time cost of man-hours spent by personnel from multiple departments, you require a system that could ensure accurate time and materials costing while providing estimates to its clients. The billing process is also quite complex as invoices need to be raised at any phase of the project, hence it is essential for project cost visibility at all times in the project cycle.

· Apart from needing a project job costing solution, there is also a requirement for accounting software that could meet your financial requirements, ranging from Indian tax compliance and payment, accounts receivable and accounts payable, bank reconciliation and general ledger.

· All small and mid-sized companies are concerned about the impact that growth would have on its technological investments and would want a modular, scalable solution that would adapt to its unique workings and keep pace with the organization’s growth.

Solution

· Sage Accpac ERP system having a strong project job costing module that integrates with the financial modules and purchase order addresses these rigorous requirements.

· A sophisticated, robust operating and accounting system, Sage Accpac ERP has a modular structure, which allows you to implement only the modules and options you need today and build out your financial system by adding on more options later. The Sage Accpac ERP system also has the capability of integrating with other productivity solutions like CRM and is highly customizable, and works in a multi location environment..

· The core financial modules of Sage Accpac ERP comprising of accounts receivable, accounts payable, the general ledger and the system manager can help you confidently manage your complex finances. Available with full multicurrency capability, powerful bank reconciliation and tax reporting features, flexible transaction processing options, and informative dashboards for analytical reporting, Sage Accpac ERP accurately presents valuable financial information in a clear and understandable format.

· The Project Job Costing module makes the estimating, tracking, costing, and billing of projects easy and manageable, thus simplifying the cost control and planning. Sage Accpac Project Job Costing connects project activities with company financials, provides extensive inquiry and reporting capabilities and helps ensure accurate and timely accounting and billing processes throughout the life of a project. The powerful features incorporated in Project and Job Costing help in identifying potential issues, tracking costs, ensuring profitability and determining success factors for any project. The automated billing features in this job cost accounting software streamline customer invoicing and reduce the time spent managing this process.

Benefits

· The project and job costing module of Sage Accpac can enable you to place orders, receive materials, track materials and assign manpower against specific projects. Since it automatically tracks the project cost throughout its life cycle, it allows the managers to keep track of project profitability at all times.

· The strong reporting feature avoids delays in the project work flow due to communication lapses, prevents misallocation of materials and ensures effective utilization of manpower and resources to guarantee profitability.

· By providing a greater understanding of the profitability and multi-level costing of projects, Sage Accpac also helps you to estimate better. Since it helps in tracking arrival and dispatch of materials at all times, it also facilitates supply chain management.

Source: Press release distribution via India PRwire

About Sage Software India

Sage Software India has over 700 customers in India for its CRM and ERP products across industries like, Engineering Services & Projects, Financial Services, Manufacturing, Distribution, Travel and Hospitality, Healthcare, Media and IT Services.

/India PRwire/ - The Indian software industry is flooded with 'fake cv's' and the leading software companies have begun taking stringent action on the employees as well as all concerned people. Indian knowledge workers are upwardly mobile and in great demand globally. The recent “India Fraud Survey Report – 2008” by KPMG emphasizes the alarming rise in fraudulent documentation by employees.

The delay in processing of visas for Indian knowledge workers by host nations, due to their stringent immigration border control policies, restrict the outward mobility & increase costs to their employers. In this context, efforts are made by employers to scrutinize and verify their applicant pool.

National Organisation for Software and Technology Professionals (NOSTOPS) is a professional service organisation that performs as a conduit between the employers, the staffing agencies and the employees, both in India as well as overseas.

With the recent spate of documentation fraud, NOSTOPS has launched a new initiative that will serve as an online databank of live ‘verified & screened’ knowledge workers, which employers use to query & authenticate prospective employees.

NOSTOPS focuses with the ‘jobseeker’ against the ‘employee’ mindset to arrive at a clean authentic online databank. Towards this NOSTOPS has partnered with First Advantage Pvt. Ltd, a leading background verification company.

Talking at the web site launch, Mr. Rajiv Dabhadkar, Founder – NOSTOPS and the CEO –‘ NOSTOPS.ORG’ said that “There is a large gap between the multiple skills demanded from the employer (required to remain globally competitive) and the skills learnt in educational institutions. This industry-academia mismatch is one of the affects of globalisation that gives opportunities for ‘document abuse’, which is seriously manipulated & misused towards the outward migration of Indian knowledge capital as well".

"Every industry has a small lot of - not so right people and the recruiting industry is no exception. NOSTOPS has been striving hard to set right this malady. Through this initiative we hope to begin making the difference to our members by providing them an opportunity to do the right thing… and to be sought by the employers rather than beating the system or by opting for services from little known agencies/people wherein monitoring quality service from them will be very difficult.” said Mr. Dabhadkar.

Source: Press release distribution via India PRwire

About NOSTOPS:-

The National Organisation for Software and Technology Professionals (NOSTOPS) is registered under the Maharashtra Societies Registration Act 1960.

The National Organisation for Software and Technology Professionals (NOSTOPS) strives to enhance the professionalism of its members. NOSTOPS has developed a methodology of Professional Practice Guidelines to assist NOSTOPS member in their pursuit of seeking an overseas employer for employment opportunities.

NOSTOPS has close to 1000 members - most of them being employees of large firms in the organised sector, from across the globe but mainly of Indian origin.

Similar to the US Department of Labour making available publicly, the details of each and every work visa petition filed by US Employers, NOSTOPS will aim to present overseas employers, India’s rich labour talent pool that has been ‘verified’ & ‘background checked’

NOSTOPS has strategic partnerships with other firms and domain experts for a cause that is to create an "Industry Platform", to improve "Ethics & Standards", to become an "Important Voice", to be heard at the right quarters, to remove the hurdles & foster the growth of this industry.

NOSTOPS and its members promises to provide outstanding professional service that rests on the quality, ethics and integrity of relationships with clients, colleagues, employers and the public.

- End -

National Organisation for Software and Technology Professionals (NOSTOPS)

The National Organisation for Software and Technology Professionals (NOSTOPS) is registered under the Maharashtra Societies Registration Act 1960.

Globalisation creates opportunities that are making firms extremely competitive. Information Technology today is moving at an alarming speed. The Internet makes the transfer of information move with blasting speed. It is therefore difficult for educational institutions to keep abreast with the fast changing curriculum and the needs of the industry. Corporations today are moving away from the traditional roles of recruitment. Global mobility of India’s knowledge capital is on an ever high and greatly encouraged by host nations.

It is therefore a difficult time for employers that have a business need to transfer workers to other locations on a short time. It is time now to simplify the movement of skilled professionals and to reduce the documentation needs within the security framework.

This is the defining moment, when the industry as a whole, should raise the bar of ethics, uphold standards and instil a self - correcting mechanism.

NOSTOPS shall work tirelessly towards these goals to put the Indian talent in its rightful place of pre - eminence, on the global map
For more information contact:
Rajiv Dabhadkar
Founder - National Organisation for Software and Technology Professionals (NOSTOPS)
Mobile: 91-9987 803 843 /91-93224 03156
You can also visit www.nostops.org for more information. or www.indiaverified.com/nostops/

/India PRwire/ - A new partnership announced today between application lifecycle management (ALM) leader Serena Software and Valtech, a global provider of strategic software consulting, lean and agile-focused software engineering, skills training and coaching, promises to usher in a new era of Agile software development in the enterprise. Building on its commitment to support the exponential growth of Agile methodologies in the enterprise, Serena is combining its enterprise IT tool-making expertise with Valtech’s transformation, coaching and education techniques to help corporate employees make use of Agile processes quickly and on-demand, without extensive prior training.

Agile is an iterative software development methodology that promotes team collaboration and adaptability throughout a project lifecycle. It’s faster and more responsive than the traditional waterfall model, which takes a purely sequential approach to creating software. As a result, Agile developers deliver software that more closely matches actual customer needs more quickly, since “user stories” replace “specs” in the application development process.

“Agile development methodologies are seeing tremendous adoption in ISVs and IT departments of all sizes,” said Jeremy Burton, CEO of Serena. “We are committed to delivering a pure-Agile toolset via SaaS later this year and are delighted to have Valtech as our partner of choice as we roll that toolset out to market.”

Attendees of the Agile 2008 conference in Toronto (http://www.agile2008.org/) will be able to experience the new partnership firsthand at the “Agile Story Corps Booth,” where conference goers can record personal stories about their Agile experiences. These stories will influence support for Agile in Serena products and services. An extension of the Agile methodology Serena uses to develop products, Agile Story Corps is a way to incorporate users as a part of the development team. This allows Serena products to better meet the needs of its users.

Serena will also be sponsoring free Agile training at the Serena TAG conference taking place September 10-11 in Santa Clara, California.

“Valtech enables organizations to leapfrog the endemic challenges that early Agile and Lean adopters have encountered when attempting to catalyze strategic organizational and personal change within the software and product development lifecycle. A focus on developer adoption without an equal focus on corporate and business alignment has consistently proved ineffective,” said Brad Murphy, CEO of Valtech North America.”

“Valtech’s OnDemand Learning, Training and Organizational change programs identify only those Agile and Lean outcomes that organizations can and should adopt--and do so in ways that lead to quick wins crucial to winning support for sustaining the outcomes that Agile and Lean can provide,” Murphy said. “Together, Serena and Valtech will ensure that business stakeholders, product owners and engineering teams can all equally succeed at acquiring the skill and value that Agile tools and best practices offer across the entire software and product development team while moving quickly to adoption and showing a compelling business return.”

Serena and Valtech jointly will support Serena Agile development tools with training and documentation delivered in a variety of flexible formats, including:

On Demand: tools and process training for individuals over the Web through the Serena community at http://community.serena.com

Just in time: 10-minute task-specific training for individuals to help beef up skills before taking a specific step; and

Traditional training: available as needed.

Source: Press release distribution via India PRwire

About Valtech

Valtech is a global provider of high performance enterprise software development, outsourcing, and organizational transformation services.

/India PRwire/ - PTC (Nasdaq: PMTC), the Product Development Company®, today announced that Kirloskar Brothers Ltd a leading manufacturer and exporter of centrifugal pumps and valves has leveraged Pro/ENGINEER® to design a pump engineering solution based on its unique siphon design for the Saurashtra Branch canal, part of the strategic Narmada Dam project in the Western Indian state of Gujarat. State of the art Technology coupled with design innovation helped overcome significant terrain, engineering and financial challenges, resulting in a successful completion of the project and provision of irrigation and drinking water to a large population of rural farmers in the state. In recognition, Kirloskar Brothers was recognized with a Technology Innovation award by the Government of Gujarat as well as a US Patent.

The primary challenge was to negotiate the difficult topography in the largest branch canal of the Narmada Project canal system and ensure a continuous and smooth flow of water for irrigation requirements in over 4000 drought affected towns and villages in the ascending Saurashtra region. To overcome this challenge, KBL designed the world’s largest pumping scheme which included three power stations and five pumping stations. Faced by the additional challenge of a vacuum created in the curvature of the pipeline which reduced the flow of water, Pro/ENGINEER was used to conduct a volume analysis, design and develop a prototype of the siphon and accurately determine the exact placement of the siphon on the pump.

The successful completion of this project resulted in enriching the lives of thousands of people living in over 4000 drought affected villages in the Saurashtra and Kutch region

by providing drinking water, hydroelectric power and irrigation across 5.4 lakh hectares of land. The innovative siphon design enabled a significant saving of power, cost and also increased the operational efficiency of the Plant. The energy saving resulting from using the innovative concept is expected to save energy units of 8.6 MW that corresponds to

approximately Rs.200 Million per year. The project was conceptualized, designed, executed and commissioned under the leadership of Shri Ramesh K. Srivastava, director, Kirlsokar Brothers Limited.

“The Narmada Project saw KBL faced with a never before seen technological challenge. With a combination of research, innovation and team work, combined with the best of breed CAD technology of PTC’s Pro/ENGINEER, KBL’s Engineering division was able to successfully overcome this challenge,” said Dr. J T Kshirsagar, vice president, corporate research & engineering division, Kirloskar Brothers Limited. “The most significant result of this project has been the enrichment of the lives of thousands of people living in over 4000 drought affected villages in the area, while also lowering operating costs of the system.”

“We are pleased to be a part of this social initiative with Kirloskar Brothers Ltd. With the successful completion of the Saurashtra Branch Canal project, PTC has reiterated its commitment to providing best in class solutions that not only address the business needs of our customers, but also enable them to overcome unique technological and innovation challenges,” said Mr. Rafiq Somani, country manager, PTC India. “We are particularly proud to be associated with a project that has such a major impact on the lives and livelihood of thousands of farmers.”

KBL has been a pioneer in conducting research in order to provide fluid handling solutions, achieve technological break through using advanced computational and experimental techniques and develop reliable and state of the art products. The company has engineered large vertical energy efficient pumps and concrete volume pumps for power projects, water supply and irrigation schemes and Hydel Turbines for small Hydel power projects. It also holds the distinction of being the only pump manufacturing company in India to have manufactured canned motor pumps for hazardous chemicals in Nuclear Plants.

Source: Press release distribution via India PRwire

About Sardar Sarovar Project:

The Narmada Dam Project is a project involving the construction of a series of large hydroelectric dams on the Narmada River (Narbada River) in India.
