Sterlite Technologies Limited (formerly, Sterlite Optical Technologies Ltd), India’s eading global provider of Power Transmission Conductors, Optical Fibers and Telecommunication Cables today announced that it has received a contract from Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Ltd (RVPN), India for manufacture and supply of ACSR Moose Power Transmission Conductors. The contract is valued at approximately INR 1.4 Billion (~US$ 35 Million) and as per customer requirements; the deliveries are scheduled from February 2008 through November 2008.

Sterlite was chosen as the sole manufacturer and supplier for over 5600 km of ACSR Moose Conductors that would be installed in 530 km route length of 400 kV S/C (Single Circuit) and 180 km route length of D/C (Double Circuit) transmission Lines in the Indian state of Rajasthan.

Sterlite currently supplies about 27% of India’s total demand for power transmission & distribution conductors. In H1 2007-08, the Company’s export sales for its Power Conductors accounted for about 28% of total revenues from sale of its Power Conductors.
