International Tourism Conference on 21st April

An international conference on Innovative Tourism is being organised by Chandigarh Tourism in association with ICFAI Business School at Chandigarh, India, in April.

Chandigarh, Union Territory, April 7, 2007 /India PRwire/ -- Chandigarh Tourism in association with ICFAI Business School is organising a one-day International Conference on Innovative Tourism on April 21 at Chandigarh, India.

With the growing tourism potential of the region, and considering the contribution it makes to the economic development of any region, the time is now to innovate and introduce world-class practices, says Mr. Vivek Atray, Director Tourism, Chandigarh.

The conference shall focus on three evolving strengths of Indian tourism, namely religious tourism, eco-tourism, medical, and adventure tourism.

Mr. Kenneth Lim, Director, Singapore Tourism Board, shall be presenting the Singapore experience along with Mr. Harpal Singh, Chairman, Fortis Health Care delivering the keynote address at the inaugural function.

The potential of religious tourism shall be explored by Swamiji Brahmeshananda, Secretary, Rama Krishna Mission, Chandigarh; Pt. Aviraj Mishra, former Vice Chancellor, Benaras Hindu University; and Shriman Devamrit Prabhu, President, ISKCON, Vrindavan.

Mr. J.S. Walia, Chief Conservator of Forests & Chairman, Eco-Tourism, Himachal Pradesh; Mr. Rajiv Mathew, an eco-tourism expert from Kerala, and Dr. Sanjeeva Pandey, Senior Advisor (Natural Resources Management), Winrock International India, shall be sharing their experiences in promoting eco-tourism in the country.

Medical Tourism, which has great potential for growth in the region, shall feature Dr. V.D. Singh, Dr. R.Kumar, and Mr. Santosh Kumar, Secretary SAFE, Kochi, as speakers.

Brig. D.S. Khullar, AVSM, Arjuna Awardee and Leader of the Mt Everest expeditions along with Dr. P.K. Vasudeva, Senior Vice President National Adventure Club, shall present the potentail of adventure tourism.
