Doehle Danautic India Ventures into Logistics

Doehle Danautic India - one of the leading providers of shipping related services globally have initiated a new subsidiary Doehle Danautic Logistics (DDL) that would be providing Logistics support to its clients worldwide.

Mumbai, Maharashtra, May 5, 2009 /India PRwire/ -- Doehle Danautic India – one of the leading providers of shipping related services globally have initiated a new subsidiary Doehle Danautic Logistics (DDL) that would be providing Logistics support to its clients worldwide. Doehle Danautic Logistics was incorporated on March 2009 in order to extend Doehle Danautic India’s capabilities and potentials in the Shipping services sector.

Doehle Danautic Logistics will implement complete logistics outsourcing solutions for key large corporations. The idea is to eliminate the need for any logistics staff and overheads for corporations. DDL stated that with our innovative door to door logistics solutions, we will offer services that will encompass the entire multi-modal transportation spectrum i.e. trucking, freight broking/forwarding, customs brokerage and door delivery all under one roof.

Due to under-developed trade and logistics infrastructure, the logistics cost of the Indian economy is over 13% of GDP, compared to less than 10% of GDP in almost the entire Western Europe and North America. As leading manufacturers realign their global portfolios of manufacturing locations, India will have to work on such systemic inefficiencies, in order to attract and retain long-term real investments. This is turn will require huge investments in the logistics sector. Today, most corporations are realizing that logistics is a specialized function that can and should be outsourced. This has given rise to specialized “third party logistics” or “3PL” players. 3PL players can directly add value to the bottom line of corporations through increased operational efficiencies. The third party logistics (3PL) market in India is set to be worth $125 billion by next year. However, the sector is highly fragmented with more than 80% of the market controlled by truck owners who own less than five trucks each.

Mr. Daniel Chopra – Managing Director, Doehle Danautic India Ltd said, “This new venture is a part of our expansion plans and through this we are looking at providing full-service multi-modal logistics services to our clients worldwide. We are expecting 100% growth year after year for the next 5 years. We expect to be handling over 60,000 TEUS and over 1 million Mt of bulk cargo within the next 5 years.”

Doehle Danautic Logistics, primary objective is to fully own, operate and commercially manage vessels for key customers in India. Currently, DDL is handling bulk and container cargo for large importers and exporters of minerals ores in India and is also in talks with importers of Wood Pulp for the paper industry. DDL will also enter into coastal shipping, project cargo, bulk handling and custom broking in near future.

Mr. Rajiv Ramnarayan – Director, Transworld Shipping India Ltd is also involved in Doehle Danautic Logistics as a Director.

Doehle Danautic India is already offering Crew, Technical and Commercial Management services to its clients worldwide and hence, DDL is a natural progression for the company towards the goal of being the premier shipping services company in India. Through this new facility we will be providing state-of-art logistics services to our clients via road, sea and air,” said Mr. Aun Aejaz – Director, Doehle Danautic Logistics.
