Emirates Shipping Line officially opened for business today

Sets up fully owned subsidiary in India

New Delhi: Emirates Shipping Line FZE officially opened for business today. Registered in the Dubai Maritime City, of United Arab Emirates, the company is commercially headquartered in the global shipping hubs of Dubai and Hong Kong, two of the busiest container ports in the world. Emirates Shipping Line is commencing its operations in mid 2006 with several ships of about 3000 teu capacity.

"We are very pleased to be up and running and providing Emirates Shipping Line with strategically located offices in the fastest growing regions of the world," said Vikas M Khan, Chairman & CEO of Emirates Shipping Line.

"All the pieces are now in place and we are ready to launch the first of our services in the coming weeks. We will be making an announcement on this shortly".

Emirates Shipping Agencies (India) Private Ltd, a fully owned subsidiary of the Emirates Shipping group, will represent the interests of Emirates Shipping Line in India, as their agents.

Announcing the launch of the agency Vikas M Khan, Chairman and CEO of Emirates Shipping Line stated "India has taken its rightful place as one of the world's largest economies which is expanding at a phenomenal pace. With the formation of our own agency in India we are making a statement reflecting our confidence in the country and its future growth potential." "Our coverage throughout India will further go a long way in establishing our commitment to our Indian customers," he added.

The company is making a clear and powerful commitment to the growth of transportation business into and out of the Middle East, Indian subcontinent and China, linking it to the rest of the world.

The Line was started in early 2006 by Vikas M Khan, ex-CEO of a well-known container shipping line, and a strong experienced management team, together with strategic investors who have a solid appreciation and knowledge of container liner business.
