Indo Rama celebrates Environment Week 100 tree saplings planted at the plant & 30 at ITI, Nagpur Committed to plant more than 5000 tree saplings in 2009-2010

New Delhi, Delhi, June 5, 2009 /India PRwire/ -- Indo Rama Synthetics (India) Ltd, India’s largest dedicated polyester manufacturer has celebrated “Environment Week” from the 1st to 5th June 09. The week long awareness campaign culminated today in a function held at its Butibori based plant. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest Dr. D J Tidke- Principal, Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering, Nagpur stressed on the need for every individual to come forward and spread awareness of a healthy environment.

Speaking on the importance of such awareness weeks Sharad Verma, Plant Head - Indo Rama, said, “We as a company are extremely keen to protect the environment for us to have a better tomorrow. As of all us are aware that there has been massive deforestation over the years, the time has now come to replenish what we have taken”.

The function was marked by some motivating speeches and cultural programme by students of IRA International School, Butibori. Prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions held in the plant as part of the week long campaign.

Earlier, in a special function organized on 1st June ’09 in the ITI at Nagpur, which has been adopted by Indo Rama, S. M. Hastey, Deputy Director – Vocational Education and Training (RO), Nagpur graced the occasion in which saplings were planted in the institute premises.

On 2nd June ’09 Indo Rama had organized a Round Table Conference on Water Conservation & Management at its factory premises. In the conference attended by Sharad Verma, R K Maheshwari, Satish Agrawal, Hemant Phatak, C B Maheshwar, Shankar Awasthi, Umesh Bhadade, Ashok Kadoo, S K Shrivastava and other senior officials of Indo Rama, the members drafted a proposal for the efficient use of water by industries.

On 3rd June ’09 S. B. Patil, Addl Chief Engineer, MIDC graced the plantation drive at the colonies of the manufacturing facility of Indo Rama at Butibori. Speaking on the occasion S. B. Patil, Addl Chief Engineer, MIDC said, “I am extremely pleased that Indo Rama has come forward to initiate awareness about the environment. It is extremely important for us to take the issue of climate change on a serious note. I hope other companies in the region take inspiration from Indo Rama and have similar awareness weeks”. Mr. Patil also shared that MIDC is going to declare this year’s theme for MIDC as “Clean, Green MIDC”. On this occasion, free samplings were distributed to children of the colonies to plant them in the vicinity of the colonies.
