General Communication Inc. (GCI) Selects Comverse BSS Solution to Support Its Cable Services

GCI Extends Relationship with Comverse to Support Cable Subscribers with Unified Billing and Customer Management

New Delhi, Delhi, February 25, 2010 /India PRwire/ -- Comverse today announced that integrated telecommunications provider GCI (NASDAQ: GNCMA) of Alaska has selected the Comverse Business Support System (BSS) solution to support its multi-channel TV services, replacing a legacy BSS system. Comverse already supports billing and customer care for GCI's Internet, mobile and wireline services.

"Comverse has been a key partner over the years in offering and delivering integrated BSS solutions that GCI requires to serve our customers successfully, both today and into the future," said Jim Dunlap, GCI vice president for information technology.

"Our existing Comverse platform has provided a single, integrated system to support order, customer care and billing across our Internet, mobile and wireline services. This enables marketing and business agility, as well as operational efficiencies. We are confident that the Comverse cable services platform will deliver the same high-quality results."

Comverse's solutions are field-proven in the cable market, supporting over 45 million subscribers through cable and multi-play service providers worldwide. GCI will work with the Comverse Global Service's Professional Services team, which has extensive experience in the planning and execution of migration projects, to ensure a smooth migration of its cable subscribers.

"Comverse is pleased to be selected by a converged cable operator such as GCI in North America," said Garrison Macri, North America Regional Sales Leader at Comverse, the world's leading supplier of software and systems enabling value-added messaging and content services, converged billing and active customer management, and IP communications.

"The Comverse BSS and customer management solution," Macri said, "is ideal for converged cable and multi-play telecommunications providers seeking to drive new revenues and operational savings."

Comverse BSS solutions are optimized for the converging communications market, with an advanced set of active customer management capabilities, including customer self-service, ordering and activation, real-time charging and payments. Comverse BSS solutions have been widely adopted around the globe, enabling operators to grow revenues, build loyalty and reduce operating expenses.
