Activemedia Technologies (AMT) joins the 2ergo Group to become a global powerhouse
The Management Team is bolstered by the appointment of Ramesh Krishnan as COO in India
Tweet-- 2ergo, a global provider of mobile enabling technology, focusing on mobile marketing, mobile customer relationship management and media solutions, has just announced its acquisition of UK headquartered Activemedia Technologies Group (AMT) - leading global providers of mobile ticketing and couponing solutions (AMT UK) and one of India's top ranking mobile marketing and value added services companies (AMT India). Headquartered in the UK, 2ergo's international presence spans Europe, North America, Latin America, and Australia.
AMT is a pioneer of mobile couponing - the first to commercially launch a mobile couponing/CRM solution in Europe and to transact the highest number of mobile coupons worldwide[i]. AMT is the award winning technology provider behind the longest running and most successful mobile marketing campaign ‘Orange Wednesdays’ which made Wednesday’s the most popular cinema going week day in the UK. AMT is a leader in mobile marketing in India, being the first company to launch nationwide cross-operator short code based services and working with many of the country’s leading brands, media companies and mobile network operators.
Chris Brassington, group managing director of 2ergo, said: “This is a major step forward in our global expansion in the BRIC region and leadership in digital mobile globally. Not only does this deal give us an operation in India, the world’s fastest growing mobile phone market, but it means that from now on, we will plan to integrate AMT’s intellectual property and expertise into the 2ergo offering globally as part of an enhanced suite of products and services to our existing and global customers. There are 453 million mobile phone users in India, approximately six times the size of the UK market, and numbers are increasing by more than 11 million per month[ii]. The Indian mobile market holds vast potential for us with 10 per cent of users choosing internet enabled mobile phones in a technology leap that forgoes computers in favour of straight to mobile data.”
AMT employs more than 50 people across its operations in London, New Delhi, and Mumbai. It serves India’s major mobile phone operators, including Airtel, Vodafone, Idea, Reliance and Tata. Blue chip clients include British Airways, Blockbuster, Proctor & Gamble, ABN AMRO, ING, Monster, Hyundai and Western Union. The acquisition follows the incorporation of AMT into 2ergo’s Business Partner Programme at the start of the year.
Raj Singh, executive director of AMT added: “Following the success enjoyed by joining 2ergo’s Business Partner Programme earlier this year, we are delighted to be part of the 2ergo group. Through the integration of our mobile couponing and ticketing products into the 2ergo offering, we are now able to offer a complete mobile marketing, CRM and loyalty solution to our existing customers as well as opening up couponing and ticketing to 2ergo’s customers and new clients globally. The combined offering will be very compelling for retailers, mobile network operators, FMCG, entertainment and media companies. Specifically in India, 2ergo’s offering will significantly bolster our market position and follows the strengthening of our management team with the appointment of Ramesh Krishnan as COO. Ramesh is a seasoned leader and brings a wealth of experience to our team. He has spent 20 plus years in the communications technology space with organizations such as AT&T, Lucent, Avaya and VeriSign in a variety of roles spanning areas of marketing, strategy, channels, sales, etc. and has worked with customers & partners across the globe. Prior to joining AMT, Ramesh was the VP of Global Channel sales at Comviva Technologies Ltd."
The deal with AMT follows the acquisition of Broca plc by 2ergo in April this year and the combination of Broca’s patented secure end-to-end communication protocol for mobile and wireless data applications, with AMT’s award winning technology, will also allow 2ergo to provide groundbreaking security solutions for clients in m-banking, m-commerce and secure m-payments. 2ergo also recently acquired Wapfly Technologies Pty Limited in Australia. The Wapfly acquisition has helped to extend 2ergo’s reach into the wider Asia-Pacific market and has brought a wealth of experience and intellectual property in developing applications and mobile internet sites for the new generation of smart phones including the Google Android and Apple iPhone.
The recent acquisitions have enabled 2ergo to expand its powerful product portfolio, extend its global reach and support international clients in the regions. 2ergo provides the enabling technology behind major mobile marketing, customer relationship management and entertainment and media campaigns. Its customers include some of the biggest names in world business, such as, O2, ABC, FOX News, Yahoo! and AT&T.
