'Tata Zone', the popular entertainment space on Tata Indicom mobile phones, now in Hindi

For the first time in the telecom world: a full-blown Hindi BREW catalogue with applications, instructions, pricing details To offer widest variety of games, ringtones, wallpapers and access to the internet

Mumbai, Maharashtra, October 5, 2007 /India PRwire/ -- Tata Teleservices today unveiled a full-blown Tata Zone, the popular infotainmentspace on Tata Indicom BREW-enabled mobile phones, in Hindi. This unique service, one of its kind in the world, comes loaded with exciting applications, pricing details, download and browsing instructions in Hindi.

The rationale behind this is simple: - 66% of all Indians speak Hindi, while less than 5 % understands English. Tata Teleservices, the country’s fastest growing telecom service provider today, recognises this fact and is therefore increasingly embracing Hindi to drive adoption of data services among the non-English speaking population.

Mr Pankaj Sethi, President (VAS), Tata Teleservices Limited said, “We are confident that our customers will cherish our unique offering. This initiative will also further widen the reach of data services to a new segment hitherto unexposed to various exciting value-added services owing to language barrier. The Hindi language interface will go a long way in taking the data usage and application download pattern in India to the next level.”

On Tata Zone- Hindi, customers will have access to unlimited fun and entertainment through a variety of applications like Cricket, Faith and Prayers, Bollywood and Hollywood movies, News, Astrology, Funzone, and Games. The entertainment-packed zone also features an impressive and latest collection of ringtones and wallpapers.

“Tata Indicom Hindi speaking customers will now have access to host of entertainment and internet services that will add further fun and excitement in our handsets. Launch of Tata Zone in Hindi underlines our commitment of delivering the best-suited telecom services to India”, Mr. Pankaj Sethi further added.

Activating the Hindi catalogue is easy. Customers will merely have to select Hindi as their preferred language in their phone settings to launch the Hindi catalogue on Tata Zone. What’s more, customers also have the option to switch back to the English catalogue on Tata Zone by changing Hindi to English in the same manner – this feature too is being introduced for the first time in the world.

The service is currently available on the following Tata Indicom handsets: Nokia 1325, Huawei 2900, Huawei 2801, and many more.
