Volunteers at RMZ Corp., India’s leading real estate developer, recently organised an activity ‘Paint My Imagination’ to enhance the lives of under-privileged children at Shishu Mandir, at Krishna Raj Puram in Bengaluru. The project was led by two employees, Olivia Haley and Radhika Gupta of RMZ Corp.’s in-house team, ‘Action Group for Change’ and involved painting the 1680 sq ft compound wall of Shishu Mandir School with the help of less privileged kids.
The project, which spanned over a period of 4 months, was aimed at encouraging the creativity and imagination of the kids. The main objective of the event was to imbibe a sense of pride and achievement in the students, so that when they see their painting in the spectacular and colourful compound wall in the school campus every day, they are reminded of their achievement.
The project was supported by the RMZ volunteers. About 60 kids and art teachers of Shishu Mandir painted the wall with interesting and colourful pictures. The kids were given a number of picture options by RMZ volunteers and the founder of Shishu Mandir. They were divided into groups to paint different sections of the wall and were taught how to start by sketching the picture and then filling it with colours. Approximately, 30 litres of paint was used in this project. A sketching and drawing workshop was organised for the kids during the initial session of the project. Elements of painting techniques such as mixing paints, texture painting and study of colour usages, etc., were taught to them by Olivia Haley who is an artist and also an architect.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms Sonali Lalvani – Head, Marketing & Corporate Communication, RMZ Corp. said, “The project was designed with the objective of encouraging the creativity of the underprivileged kids. At RMZ, we believe that Painting and any form of Art is Therapeutic, and helps in community building. We are extremely happy to be a part of this initiative, which also reinstates our philosophy, ‘Being the Change’. We look forward to such activities in the future which will bring a transformation in the lives of underprivileged people.”
The project was completely funded by voluntary donations from RMZ Staff. The fund was used to buy the paints, brushes and other stationery for the project.

It is an institution of its own kind consisting of a children’s Home, Schools and a Community College. The Home has chosen as its leading idea the idea of a big family. The School is located at Bengaluru in Krishna Raj Puram and has about 300 underprivileged. It is also part of the Shishya Mandir Trust, an orphanage with 25 kids.
Children from poverty stricken families, often without a hope for survival, are taken in here to receive the love and care of the Mundhra family, and the staff of their hospital. With this initiative, they get a chance for survival and education. The children receive an all round promotion, which particularly aims at their hidden talents to strengthen their very low self-confidence.
