Radio Misty partners with World Anti Tobacco Day Campaign

Radio Misty 94.3 fm, the first and Number one Fm station of North Bengal have partnered with a non-government organization in West Bengal's Siliguri city to organize a campaign on the occasion of 'World Anti-Tobacco Day' to make people aware of the evil effects of tobacco.

siliguri, west bengal, June 1, 2010 /India PRwire/ -- Radio Misty 94.3 fm, the first and Number one Fm station of North Bengal have partnered with a non-government organization in West Bengal's Siliguri city to organize a campaign on the occasion of 'World Anti-Tobacco Day' to make people aware of the evil effects of tobacco.

The Siliguri Sumita Cancer Relief Welfare and Educational Society took out a rally with students and the NCC (National Cadet Corps) cadets holding placards and banners in support of their campaign.

M K Bhattacharya, the secretary of the Sumita Cancer Society said that by means of this rally, they are creating awareness among the people about the ill effects of tobacco consumption. We are creating awareness among the people that the consumption of tobacco can lead to cancer. Many people gave away their cigarettes and tobacco to us," he added. The aim is to have a 'Tobacco free' Siliguri .The coming generation would be benefited. Those who are addicted to tobacco will also get benefit and it will also help to reduce cancer. On the occasion, the members of the NGO also performed street plays to highlight the issue.
