Kolkata, West Bengal, February 5, 2010 /India PRwire/ -- Cancer is the leading cause of death in the world. In the developed countries cancer is the second leading cause of death while in developing countries it ranks third .Due to lack of awareness Cancer in India in most cases are detected late. As a responsible medium and its continued effort to contribute to the society BIG 92.7 FM No. 1 FM Station Network in association with AMRI Hospitals Limited, Kolkata on the occasion of World Cancer Day organized a cancer awareness campaign on 4th February 2010, to keep the public informed about the reality, myths and misconceptions about cancer.

The awareness campaign, which will be carried out both on-air and on-ground, will focus on spreading the right information. It will raise awareness on cancer prevention. The eminent Onco Surgeon Dr Vikash Agarwal (Consultant Onco Surgeon - AMRI Hospitals) along with RJ Sushmita kicked off the campaign through FIGHT CANCER, the on ground live on air show at Mani Square. Live Booths, Stalls were set up and brochures were distributed to increase awareness on the simple measures to fight cancer.
