BIG 92.7 FM Launches Raahat Abhiyaan, celebrates 'World Kindness Day' on November 13th

Raahat Abhiyaan - City residents of Chandigarh, Amritsar & Jalandhar to donate their old woolen clothes and blankets

Chandigarh, Punjab, November 9, 2008 /India PRwire/ -- BIG 92.7 FM, India’s No. 1 FM station, in first-of-its-kind initiative is observing ‘World Kindness Day’ which falls on 13 November, in a very special way. To reach out to the poor & needy, BIG 92.7 FM has launched ‘Raahat Abhiyan’ – an initiative aimed at providing clothes to the needy. With winters approaching, there is a need for the warm clothes and especially for those who cannot afford to buy new woolens and blankets. BIG 92.7 FM will collect warm clothes and blankets for the less privileged children who live in the slum areas and cannot afford to buy warm blankest. All the RJs of BIG 92.7 FM are appealing its listeners to come forward to support the cause. It’s been only one day since BIG 92.7 FM has launched its ‘Raahat Abhiyan’ and the response is extremely good as a lot of people are coming forward with warm clothing and blankets lying unused in a corner of the house. Since Children’s Day also falls on the next day that is November 14th so BIG 92.7 FM has decided to distribute the collected winter clothing amongst the little kids who live in the slum area.

This offering from BIG 92.7 FM, is yet another Life Banao initative to help the needy face the winter chill. The stations have identified key locations in the city, where people can send in their clothing and blankets. The same will be collected, sorted and then distributed among the needy, by the jocks of the Station.

Speaking on the occasion, Siddharth Bhardwaj, Regional Director, North – I, BIG 92.7 FM, said, “The idea of collecting clothes came up from our RJs who wanted to do something for the kids living in the slum areas of the city. ‘Raahat Abhiyaan’ has been launched with an aim of providing help to those kids who cannot afford to wear warm clothes in chilling weather. We are looking forward to a huge support from our listeners and people of Chandigarh and Punjab, who I am sure will make this initiative a success. This is the best thing we could think of doing on ‘World Kindness Day’ which falls one day prior to Children’s Day on November 14th.”
