Mukesh Ambani led Reliance Jio is the newest entrant in the Indian telecom market. Currently, in its test phase, the upcoming digital service provider is inviting all 4G-compatible smart phone users to test the high-speed 4G network. Although initially, the offer was applicable only to LYF phones, it was then extended to Samsung and LG users. Presently, all users who have cellular devices that support 4G can avail of Jio SIM cards and its services.--
Jio preview offer
Individuals may enjoy the limited preview offer on buying the SIM cards. This offer entails free unlimited high-speed data, HD calling over VoLTE, and messaging services for a period of 90 days.
This would also enable users to enjoy premium Jio applications and the various content streaming platforms. Reliance Jio's JioOnDemand is one such service which is made available to users under the preview offer.
Individuals can purchase Jio SIM cards from select stores like Reliance Digital and Xpress Mini stores. Since the offer has just been launched and is only available at a few outlets, long queues to purchase the SIM cards are expected. These will now be available without coupon codes. Unlike Samsung or LG smart phone users who had to utilize MyJio to generate coupon codes for the SIM's activation, new users may now just walk into the stores and avail of Jio SIMs.
Users may visit these select outlets and fill KYC forms. Additionally, they would have to submit their ID proof and photographs. The SIM cards could then be verified by calling on 1977 which would activate the Jio services.
Trade analysts have attempted to accurately predict the impact of Jio on the telecom industry in India. Priced competitively along with value-added offerings and affordable smart phones, Reliance Jio is sure to become popular after its commercial launch.
Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), Mukesh Ambani, stated that the network has already garnered a user base of more than 15,00,000 individuals. This number is now set to increase with Jio SIMs being an offer to all 4G smart phone users. He explained how the company is moving towards becoming fully functional and making final modifications.
By its commercial launch, the telecom operator is set to be affiliated with half a million activation outlets. Additionally, users may recharge their SIMs from a network that has around million recharge outlets.
Having already invested towards creating cutting-edge technology, parent company RIL has also heavily spent on developing state-of-the-art infrastructure to support Jio services. In Goa, Jio has laid out an optical fiber cables network of four thousand kilometers to enhance its network.
Trade analysts suggest that the voice calling may be priced at Rs. 0.2 per second or Rs. 1.20 per minute for calls made to all mobile operators and landlines. Messages may be priced at Rs. 1 per message and data at Rs. 0.1 for every 10KB used.
