Public voting begins for eINDIA 2010 Awards

eINDIA Citizen Choice Award is the country's only award that enables citizens to vote, select and recognise the best, most innovative, and impactful government and public sector projects across six categories. The voting closes on July 15, 2010.
The first ever award in the government sector that is decided by the citizen also aims at recognizing the champions of the ICT industry for their outstanding contribution. "The best thing about this awards process is that it is very democratic and anybody across India having access to Internet can vote to choose the best development project by just logging on to http://www.eindia.net.in/2010/awards/index.asp," Dr. Ravi Gupta, Convener, eINDIA2010 said.
The eINDIA 2010 Awards are the premier accolades given to innovative endeavors for assimilating technology in developmental concerns. The Awards have been instituted with the primary aim of felicitating and acknowledging unique and innovative initiatives in the use of ICT for Development.
Commenting on the eINDIA Awards, Dr. Gupta said that eINDIA2010 Award is an initiative to encourage institutions and individual leaders to use and apply ICT tools in various sector specific projects. "It aims at identifying and felicitating projects that exemplifies the kind of implementation that can be easily replicated and at the same time proves efficient as well as is sustainable."
Running into the fifth year, the eINDIA Awards have been instrumental in promoting the most innovative initiatives in the domain of ICTs for Development and to spread awareness about the role of ICTs in addressing social concerns.
While eINDIA 2010 Awards will have a formal Jury process to decide on the majority of the awards, there is also the citizen's choice award for all 26 sub-categories under eGovernance, Education, Healthcare, Agriculture, Municipal IT and Telecentre that allows citizens to vote and recognize projects that have impacted their lives the most.
Dr. Gupta further added, "We have been receiving overwhelming responses from the citizens and the total numbers of votes has already exceeded 12,000 till date across 500 nominations."

The exhibition at eINDIA 2010 will facilitate synchronization of demand and supply in terms of adoption of right technology and process, towards enabling better Governance, healthcare and education facilities in the country.

ABOUT eINDIA
eINDIA 2010 the largest ICT for development event in India, is being held at Hyderabad International Convention Centre, Hyderabad on 4-6 August, 2010.
The event is hosted by the Government of Andhra Pradesh and is being organised by Center for Science, Development and Media Studies (CSDMS) and Elets Technomedia Pvt Ltd. It is being co-organised by Department of IT (GoI), Ministry of Panchayati Raj (GoI), and Ministry of Labour & Employment (GoI), Unique Identification Authority of India, Directorate General of Employment & Training (GoI), the National eGovernance Plan, and IGNOU.
While Sri Lanka is the official Country Partner of eINDIA 2010, it will also have participation by high powered senior level delegates from Egypt, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Sudan and European Union.
The three-day conference comprises several tracks and sessions on eGov, Unique ID, Municipal IT, Digital Learning (K12, Higher Education & Vocational Training), eAgriculture, eHealth, Hospital CIO Conclave, and Telecentre Forum-would be attended by stakeholders from across the development and government sector, including elected members of state Assemblies and the Parliament, senior level bureaucrats, policy makers, academia, NGOs and industry associations.
