Actress, social activist & young leader Vani Tripathi doesn't need any introduction. After being noted highly for her tremendous performance in various television serials & films and at the same time her dedication towards social responsibilities she did wonderfully well here too. As a social activist & a national secretary of youth wing, BJP, she has addressed various international forums & conferences and has spoken on issues ranging from women empowerment to global sustainability to youth leadership issues.

During the course she represented India in Asia Young 21 Leaders Summit held at South Korea. Vani also designed Asia society delegation during Ramon Magsaysay Award function.

After being highlighted as BJP candidate during upcoming assembly elections, Vani is in the buzz once again. This time she's making news as she has voted as "Emerging Leader of the year" for her contributions around the world by Washigton DC-India Roundtable, Inc.

The Global award will be given on November 20, 2008 at Martins Crosswinds, Greenbelt, Maryland, U.S., where Martin O'Malley (Maryland Governor) will be the keynote speaker and Hon'ble Natwar Gandhi (D.C-Government Chief Financial Officer) will be the special Guest of Honor. The function will have good number of elected officials and congressmen and about 400 CEOs and Presidents from Business community. Except from taking part in the award function on 17, 18 & 19th November, she will be meeting several senators from the US senate and Maryland senate and several important & prominent people from Washington. She will also address India centric issue of governance and how US and India can come together for global sustainability.

The Maryland India Business Roundtable (MIBRT) is an autonomous, non-profit, public private partnership established as a 501(c) (6) corporation with the mission to Promote Maryland State and Counties as a Global Hub for Business, Trade and Investment destination and to attracting businesses operating in India to expand operations into Maryland.

There are more than 80,000 Indian Americans and 2,800 Indian owned businesses in Maryland, employing over 31,000 people in the health care, information technology, engineering, research and development fields. The MIBRT will proactively work with American entrepreneurs to improve the already strong ties between Maryland and India businesses. It will conduct seminars and workshops to educate and inform business leaders on the emerging trade and business opportunities in India.

The MIBRT will support and organize both the outbound and inbound trade missions to bring together both government and business leaders in Maryland and India.

During the function the MIBRT will present and honor Mr. Michael D. Herman, Esq, Chief of Staff to the Prince George’s County Executive for his leadership support not only to Indian American Community but Asian Pacific Community at large and 10 business leaders will be honored at this great event and the following awardees for their outstanding achievements and contributions in their chosen fields and public services towards Economic Development of Maryland and India.

The awardees for the evening are Mr. Stephen Phillips "Global Entrepreneur of the Year Award", Mr. Jay Chen "Best Journalist of the Year", Dr. Justus Devadas, “Outstanding Leadership of the Year”, Ms. Vani Tripathi, “Emerging Global Youth Leader”, Mr. Subramanya Kusnur, “Goodwill Ambassador to Maryland”, Ms Arathi Krishna, “Indian American Community Advocate”.
