As a part of the mega blood donation drive by all the 103 Rotary Clubs in the Rotary District 3230, the Rotary Club of Chennai Velachery conducted a Blood Donation Camp today, in partnership with the Child Trust Hospital and two of its sister Clubs at the Asan Memorial College, Pallikaranai, on Wednesday, 6th August, 2008, from 10-00 a.m. to 2-30 p.m.
The event started at 10 a.m. with a target of about 75 units of blood to be collected. Finally, 106 units of blood were collected. There was an excellent cooperation from the college. The students were also quite methodical. Rtn. Mukundhan, the President of the Club was the first donor and stayed with Rtn. Ramesh Krishnamurth, Director, Community Services -Health till the end of the event. Assistant Governor A.G. Veerramani of the Rotary District 3230 visited the Camp around noon.
The Rotary Clubs of Gemini and Guindy also participated in the event, along with the Rotary Club of Velachery. "The Rotary Club of Chennai Velachery can take an independent camp in the days to come", Rtn. Ramesh Krishnamurthy later said.
