The Rotary Club Of Pune Riverside presented the service and Vocational Excellence award popularly known as SERA and VERA award on the 25th June 2008 at the Le Meridien Hotel to Dr. Chandrashekar Madhusudan Chitale and Abhijit Pawar respectively for the year 2007-08 at the hands of Dr. Ashok Kolaskar, Ex Vice Chancellor UoP.

The Awards are popularly known as Service Excellence Recognition Award (SERA), first instituted in 1997 by Rtn. Aroon Sareen & Vocational Excellence Recognition Award (VERA), in 2004-05 respectively by Rtn. Mukesh Malhotra. The main aim of these awards is to honour individuals showing a lifetime of commitment & dedication to their profession.

After receiving the awards Dr. Chandrashekar Madhusudan Chitale and Mr. Abhijit Pawar spoke on the occasion and thanked Rotary Club of Pune Riverside for choosing them for these prestigious awards. They mentioned their efforts and hardwork they have put in while they climbed the success ladder through their lives.

SERA recognizes teachers for their excellence in teaching community whereas VERA recognizes

individuals in organizations that project high standards other than teaching. The SERA & VERA selection committees have chosen two such winners this year.

While the SERA awards completed a decade the VERA awards completed three years.
