Ramesh Bajpai to step down as AMCHAM's Executive Director
Ramesh Bajpai who is the founder Executive Director of the AMCHAM Secretariat will step down as the first Executive Director of AMCHAM after being at the helm of affairs of AMCHAM for nearly 12 years.
American Chamber of Commerce in India (AMCHAM) will hold its Annual General Meeting on Friday, April 25, 2008 in New Delhi. Ramesh Bajpai who is the founder Executive Director of the AMCHAM Secretariat will step down as the first Executive Director of AMCHAM after being at the helm of affairs of AMCHAM for nearly 12 years.
AMCHAM India which was started with a modest beginning has now grown into a full - fledged important business chamber representing the interests of American companies operating in India. Under Mr. Bajpai’s leadership, the Chamber has grown in size from about 60 members to over 530 members. It now has 5 chapters in Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Karnataka and Mumbai with headquarters in Delhi.
AMCHAM has created an unique position in the fraternity of business chambers in India. Its sole objective has been to promote FDI by American companies in India and to protect the interest of its members’ organizations in its interaction with the Government on matters relating to foreign investment policies and procedures impacting the day to day operations of foreign investors. Ramesh Bajpai has guided the activities of AMCHAM with a single minded dedication and zeal to promote foreign investment in India. American companies are still the single largest foreign investors in India from any one country with over US$ 20 billion of investments already on the ground and still growing.
The Board of Directors of AMCHAM have decided to make Mr. Ramesh Bajpai an Honorary Member of AMCHAM after his retirement.
