PVC Subedar Major Bana singh to be awarded with Shivaji FACT Award for courage 2008
The first Shivaji FACT award for Courage 2008 will be given to PVC Subedar Major Bana Singh in the auspicious presence of H H Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.

FACT has instituted an Award for Courage to felicitate and encourage the Courageous citizens that have and would show the courage to change the things for the better for India.
The first Shivaji FACT award for courage 2008 goes to PVC Subedar Major Bana Singh. The awarded will be presented on 12 th of March 2008 by H H Sri Sri ravi Shankar in Mumbai at a function attended also by Gujarat CM Sri Narendra Modi and Sri Udhav Thackeray.
On 26th June 1987, Subedar Major Bana Singh led his platoon on the Siachen glacier, at a height of nearly 5000 metres, against a Pakistani post which was threatening Indian security. The post was virtually an impregnable glacier fortress with ice walls, high, on either side. Lobbing hand-grenades, charging with a bayonet and moving from trench to trench, he cleared the post of all intruders.
