National HR Summit 2008

A two-day National HR Summit 2008 is organized here today by the Asia-Pacific Institute of Management, popularly known as AIM, at BB Verma Auditorium, Jasola in New Delhi, to deliberate on the important issues being faced by the contemporary business world.

More than 100 experts in the Human Resource field which include HR Managers, Professionals, Corporate Practitioners, Research Scholars, Academicians and Management Graduates, are participating in the mega event to discuss matters relating to contemporary practices, challenges and opportunities for the sector through debates and presentation of papers.

In his inaugural address at the Summit, Col. S.P. Wahi (Retd.) said that ‘’In the existing environment, for greater competitive advantages as also to overcome hurdles of severe competition, planned attempts could be made to improve and develop the quality of human resource and set up strong linkage between strategic business needs and strategic human resource management practices.’’

It is well recognized now that the contribution of human factors inter alia, is quite high towards the success of the organization, Col. Wahi added.

Delivering the keynote address, Dr. C.S. Venkata Ratnam said ‘’The contemporary business world, especially since the last quarter of twentieth century, has witnessed a dramatic change and shift in respect of form and size of enterprises, management strategy and policy, organizational structure, decision making process, information system, employer employee relations, work style and work place conditions.’’

Besides this, the dominance of uni-polar world economic order has made the task of managing organizational activities very tough and challenging, Dr Ratnam said and added that ‘’As a matter of fact, the field of business has become an area of great threat and is problem prone.’’

The Objective of the Summit is to identify the contemporary Human Resource practices existing in different types of organizations, ascertain the challenges being faced and visualize the opportunities existing, for achieving business, success, through optimum utilization of human resource.

The Summit will mainly focus on HR Trends towards Development and Growth, Linking HR Investment to Business Results, HR Challenges in Indian and Global Context, Utilizing the HR through Sustainable Development.

The valedictory address will be delivered by Dr. S. R. Mohnot at the conclusion of the Summit tomorrow.
