Khenchen Tsewang Gyatso Rinpoche, from the Institute of Higher Buddhist Studies at Namdroling Monastery (Golden Temple), Bylakkuppe will be giving an oral transmission and commentary on the Prajna-Paramita-Hrdaya-Sutra, the essence of Wisdom Perfection. The teaching will be conducted at Choe Khor Sum Ling – Buddhist Meditation & Study Center, Bangalore on October 14, 2007 from 10:00am to 4:30pm.
Prajna-Paramita-Hrdaya-Sutra (The Heart Sutra) is a pivotal Sutra of Mahayana Buddhism. It summarizes the essence of the Prajna Paramita (Wisdom Perfection) teachings of the Buddha into a short scripture of around 250 words. It is a luminous expression of the enlightened wisdom realizing the doctrine of emptiness. Many Buddhists around the world recite this daily to plant the imprints towards achieving the highest wisdom. Choe Khor Sum Ling is glad to organize this opportunity to learn the meaning of this profound Sutra from a renowned master. There will also be an opportunity to engage in a discussion session on this topic.
Khenchen Tsewang Gyatso Rinpoche is a distinguished lama of the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, and one of the three senior Khenpos at the reputed Institute of Higher Buddhist Studies (Ngagyur Nyingma Institute) at Namdroling Monastery in Bylakkuppe. He is a great scholar and practitioner authorized by His Holiness Penor Rinpoche to give personal instructions to disciples. He received recognition from His Holiness Dalai Lama for his Buddhist Scholarship during his studies at the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies, Saranath. He received all the major lineage transmissions of the Nyingma tradition from HH Dudjom Rinpoche, HH Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche and HH Penor Rinpoche. Khen Rinpoche speaks good English and had been teaching extensively in America and Asian countries. He is affectionately known among his disciples as ‘Khenpo Guru’.
