New and improved Bio-Oil Cars to hit the streets

It is safe to say that Earth-100 is one of the few companies that have managed to convert the biofuel dream into a vividly successful reality. However, for Megha Rathee, the firm's ambitious CEO, this simply wasn't enough. "Our cars have always run on biodiesel, which is derived from the Jatropha plant. This is one way to do it, but I wanted figure out a way which is more economical and more convenient, which is why I decided to go with bio-oil."

Gurgaon, Haryana, February 2, 2012 /India PRwire/ -- If you've been keeping tabs on the rapidly evolving world of environment-friendly technology, you would have surely heard of Earth-100. For those not in the know, it is an up-and-coming, award-winning company that seeks to provide innovative new green solutions. Their biggest success story (thus far) has been a fleet of cars that can run equally well on diesel and bio-diesel. These cars, developed by Mahindra, are leased to corporates. The comprehensive little package on offer includes not only the provision of cars, but also the regular supply of biofuel, driver-training and performance tracking.

What is this bio-oil, you may wonder. Simply put, it is a fuel derived from used cooking oil. This waste oil undergoes certain chemical processes in order to be converted into a green fuel. Following which, suitable additives are combined with the fuel in order to ensure compatibility with the vehicle's engine. To the folks at Earth-100, bio-oil promises to be a profitable venture as used cooking oil is cheaper and easier to procure than the Jatropha plant which is used to create the traditional bio-diesel. Rathee's modus operandi is to procure the used oils at cheap rates from restaurants and hotels.

Earth-100, in collaboration with RegenaStar, will be working to create a SVO (Straight Vegetable Oil) kit that can be installed in any car. We are not involved in the creation of the kit. The kit is supplied by RegenaStar and is installed by them as well. This kit has been developed and used, with considerable success, by RegenaTech in the United Kingdom. Great pains have been taken to ensure that the kit does not hamper the performance of the vehicle in any way.

Unlike Earth-100's conventional bio-diesel package that was developed by Mahindra and could only be administered on the Scorpio, the SVO package can be administered on any kind of car imaginable. "We will soon be launching the bio-oil cars in Bangalore, to be used by corporates. And depending on the kind of success we meet, we may soon introduce these cars all over India, and not just to a corporate clientele," says Rathee.

However, be it the bio-diesel Scorpio or the new and improved bio-oil vehicles, the one aspect that remains the same is Earth-100's determination to provide the very best customer-service to its clients. "We will be responsible for the installation, service and maintenance of the SVO kit through our partner RegenaStar," declares Rathee. "We will also provide customized dispensers for bio-oil. The location of these dispensers will either be at our partner's facility, or at a location specified by our clients."
