The teams will face two days of tough physical, mental and strategic challenges all in the aid of raising money for the chosen charities.

The BG Energy Challenge is the team building event for the global energy industry. It is an annual test of teamwork, ingenuity, skill and commitment, drawing support from a wide variety of companies in the energy sector and raising substantial funds for charity.

Kapil Garg, Managing Director, BG India, said: “The BG Energy Challenge has created a unique opportunity across our industry for people to come together outside our normal business, to have fun, to get to know each other and raise money for deserving causes. We are proud to launch this annual challenge in India, and are pleased to announce that the BG Energy Challenge 2008 – India will support the cause of raising awareness on the menace of cancer in India through our partner charities, Cancer Patients' Aid Association (CPAA) and Women's Cancer Initiative - Tata Memorial Hospital (WCI-TMH).”

Yogendra Sapru, Chairman and CEO, Cancer Patients' Aid Association (CPAA) said: “We are delighted to be chosen as one of the charities in India to benefit from the funds raised from the BG Energy Challenge 2008 - India. CPAA is known for its comprehensive approach to cancer management for the under-privileged in the socio-economic backward regions. Apart from diagnosis, and treatment, CPAA also rehabilitates patients who have been rendered jobless due to their illness. The support of organisations like BG would further strengthen our efforts towards raising awareness of cancer, its prevention and early detection in poor and vulnerable communities.

The BG Energy Challenge 2008 – India, organised in collaboration with Snow Leopard Adventures, is expecting up to 19 corporate teams on the starting line in Garud Maachi, each made up of five employees from all levels of the business. The challenge is a test of teamwork, ingenuity, skill, commitment and communication, and it is a great opportunity to network with fellow professionals in the energy industry. It is not a race or a physical competition, but a multi-faceted event which challenges the participants both physically and mentally over 1.5 action-packed days.

While networking and challenging industry peers at the BG Energy Challenge 2008 - India, the teams are committed to raising a minimum of Rs. 4.5 lakhs each for charity. They will have the choice of donating all of their funds to one of the charities or can choose to split them equally between the two.
