Two More LANCO Units Registered as CDM Projects

Two more hydro projects of LANCO in Himachal Pradesh have been registered as Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) under the Kyoto Protocol.

Two more hydro projects of LANCO in Himachal Pradesh have been registered as Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) under the Kyoto Protocol.

The projects - 5 MW Upper Khauli and 5 MW Drinidhar on the Beas River - are the additional two hydro power projects of LANCO to be registered as CDM projects. The projects, which are under construction, are expected to be commissioned by 2008. The two projects will generate approximately 35,000 Certified Emission Reductions (CER) per annum. With this, the total capacity of hydro projects registered with UNFCCC has risen to 20 MW.

LANCO's existing biomass projects and two hydro projects have already been registered as CDM projects generating 110,000 CERs per annum. With the two additional projects, LANCO will generate approximately 145,000 CERs per annum. LANCO is also in the process of registering its other renewable energy projects.
