NCPA Presents World-Renowned Pianist Stephen Kovacevich

Rated as the best Beethoven player in the world, pianist Stephen Kovacevich is scheduled to give an exquisite recital on July 16, 2010 at the NCPA

Mumbai, Maharashtra, July 13, 2010 /India PRwire/ -- The National Centre for the Performing Arts, India's premier arts and culture institution, presents a piano recital by one of the most illustrious pianists of our time - Stephen Kovacevich He will be performing at the NCPA - Tata Theatre on Friday, July 16th, 2010 at 7.00 pm.

Speaking on the occasion, Khushroo Suntook, Chairman, NCPA, said, "It's indeed a privilege for the NCPA to present, for the second time, the great pianist, Stephen Kovacevich whose playing of Beethoven's works is almost peerless. He is one of the best pianists in the world, particularly in the basic classical repertoire. His technical command allied to his great musical sensitivity makes any performance of Stephen's a memorable experience. His recordings of the Beethoven concerti and sonatas have attained iconic status."

At the NCPA, Kovacevich will play Beethoven: Piano Sonata No 5 in C minor Op 10, Beethoven: Piano Sonata No 31 Op 110 in A flat major and Schubert: Piano Sonata in B flat major D960. He will also be conducting Master Classes for Piano students on July 19th and 20th.

Stephen is one of the most searching interpreters. He has won unsurpassed admiration for his rendition of Brahms, Mozart and Schubert, apart from Beethoven. In addition to his long and distinguished career as a soloist, he has conducted for many years, winning praise for his work with orchestras throughout the world in repertoire from the 18th and 19th centuries. His international reputation has been built both on his concert appearances, renowned for their thoughtfulness and re-creative intensity, and on the highly acclaimed recordings he has made throughout his career.
