Specialist and expert in the field of laboratory medicine Dr. Navin Dang, Microbiologist & Director, Dr. Dang’s Medical Diagnostic Centre has been honored with the prestigious Dr. B.C Roy Award this year. Dr. Dang is the first private consultant in the field of Laboratory Medicine in the country to be given this honor for his continued contribution towards the development of this specialty. The Indian Medical Council instituted the Dr. B.C. Roy Award in 1962 and over the years the Award has become one of the most highly coveted awards in the medical profession.

Dr. B.C. Roy National Award has been instituted to recognize the best talents in encouraging the development of specialties in different branches of Medicine. The value of each award is Rs.15, 000/- and a Medal which given in a special investiture ceremony by The President of India.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr, Dang said “the Award is a recognition of his efforts that have gone into development of specialty of laboratory medicine which was for very long been considered behind the scene. But now it is a front-runner amongst other core specialties. Indian Laboratory Medicine is now at par with international standards”.

Dr. Dang began his career at AIIMS in 1982 after completing his MBBS from UCMS, Delhi University. He further went on to do his MD in medical microbiology from PGIMER Chandigarh. Prior to setting up Dr. Dang’s Laboratories Dr. Dang was with Ranbaxy Laboratories.

Bagging the Award comes as great news for Dr. Dang as he plans to expand the range of Lab tests to include more tests in molecular biology, immunology, and infectious diseases. Dr. Dang’s Medical Diagnostic Center’s core forte is to focus of quality control and quality management to provide the best and cost effective options to its patients.
