After the successful completion of the first batch for the Sewing Training program, Gangavaram Port Limited has started the second batch of "Sewing Training program" for the women in surrounding villages.

Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, October 22, 2013 /India PRwire/ -- After the successful completion of the first batch for the Sewing Training program, Gangavaram Port Limited has started the second batch of "Sewing Training program" for the women in surrounding villages. As a part of the second batch 60 women have been selected from Srinagar displaced colony. These women will be undergoing 45 days of training where they will be taught basic concept of stitching and clothing designs. Apart from organizing the classes GPL will also provide transportation facility for the convenience of the women who will be attending the program. Upon completing the tailoring program, each woman will be issued certificate which will help the women get employment locally or at apparel parks.

The program was inaugurated by Mr. Chintalapudi Venkat Ramaiah, MLA, Gajuwaka in Vadlapudi village, Gajuwaka in presence of Mr. K. Raja Ratnam Naidu, Senior Vice-President (R R & Security), Mr. LPS. Ramu Naidu and Assistant Vice-President (Liaison).

The Sewing training program by Gangavaram port has received a fantastic response from the women folks in the neighboring villages as it has provided them with an opportunity to supplement the family income. From the first batch over 21 have been offered job in the apparel park and others have been able to support their families by taking up tailoring jobs in the village.

GPL aims to uplift and give equal status to the women of the surrounding areas through Women Empowerment activities like sewing and stitching programs. The main aim of this program is to enhance the quality of life of women through increased knowledge and skills.
