Launched by a Bangalore based publishing house, Boutique Publishing, 'furs,fins and feathers', is a first of its kind magazine targeted towards bringing together people who love animals. The magazine is the brain child of Shivani Darshan, a former media sales professional and self confessed animal lover, who also believes, "Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body".
"The Media has the power to push and drive a cause, and it's this belief that led me to come out with this magazine, 'furs, fins and feathers', which provides all the information for pet owners and animal lovers. During the ideation stage, the magazine was solely dedicated to my pet German Shepherd 'Buddy'. But as I started doing my research I discovered that so many of our like-minded animal lover friends do not have a one stop information gathering avenue especially for animals. This magazine is for any animal lover, and not necessarily a pet owner. I wanted the magazine to be India's first magazine for animal lovers, which is available on stands," says Shivani, highlighting the reason behind the launch of this niche magazine.
Currently available in all leading book stores across India, 'furs, fins and feathers' covers a wide gamut of topics concerning the animal world. From information on various breeds of dogs, cats, horses, fish and birds to fun and informative cover stories about celebrities and their pets. From food, care and hygiene tips, to news on wildlife and exciting wildlife travel hotspots. Along with a presentation of glossy photographs, fuss free style of writing, there is also dedicated space to animal welfare organizations like CUPA, PfA, PETA,etc.The magazine is published monthly and is priced at Rs.50/-.
