In an effort to bring together thebest practicesassociated with water management , Automation Industry Association (AIA) is organizing Water Tech 2008 at Chennai on 17th October 2008. The one daysymposium is an effort to address the key issues on water supply, water quality and treatment & recycling and demonstrate the tangible benefits that Automation Technology provides in theIndian perspective.

The event willfeature reputed speakers from various parts of the country and abroadto share their experiences and evolve future initiativestostrengthen Water Conservation and Revenue maximization, Water Quality Protection and On-line diagnostics. andmove towards24*7 WaterAvailability.

WaterTech 2008 gains more relevance today because per-capita availability of water in India has steadily declined from 5000 cum/annum in the year 1947 to 2000 cum/annum now. This means that with the expanding supply, treatment and recycling capacities it is important to implement modern processes.A number of areas are already in crisis situations: among these are the most populated and economically productive parts of the country. The catastrophic consequences of indiscriminate short-term actions, pumping of groundwater, – including the provision of free power – have compounded instead of solving the problem.

Since most modern water and wastewater processes are controlled by sophisticated computer-based systems, the use of industrial automation technologies is crucial to facilitating these processes enabling measurement and control, ensuring optimum efficiency, reducing wastages and maintaining regular supply. Thetechnology focussedsymposium will strive to answer reliability and visibility concerns particularly in relation to growing emphasis on compliance with safety, environmental and health standards.

WaterTech 2008 is targeted at State and Municipal Water Authorities, Plant Operation Heads, Reliability and Quality Auditors, Safety & Health Auditors, Process Engineering Specialists, Technology Suppliers, IT analysts, Equipment & Project Contractors, Operation & Maintenance Contractors, Water Consultants, Automation & Instrumentation specialists, Financing bodies, Environmental NGOs among others.
