AMCHAM India Organizes Its First Ever 'AMCHAM India Amateur Invitational Golf Event 2008'

Corporate bigwigs tee off at the first edition of AMCHAM India Amateur Invitational Golf Event at Qutab Golf Course, Delhi

Bringing US businesses closer to India from the boardroom to the playing field, AMCHAM (American Chamber of Commerce) in India, today organized the first edition of ‘AMCHAM India Amateur Invitational Golf Event 2008’ today at the Qutab Golf Course, New Delhi. The event saw top executives and heads of U.S. global corporates in India, senior functionaries of the Government of India and U. S. Embassy officials, teeing off at the venue on a leisurely Saturday afternoon.

With more than a hundred corporate golfers vying for top honours at the event; AMCHAM, which has been playing an active role in bringing U.S.A. and India on a closer business level, sees this as a good opportunity for closer interaction and networking amongst the attendees. Mr. Ajay Singha, Executive Director-AMCHAM India elaborated, “AMCHAM provides a platform to promote activities that encourage and stimulate investment by US companies in India and encourage closer trade ties between the two nations. This Golf tournament further affords a good occasion wherein they get to discuss and identify common issues and interests regarding their economic and commercial interests.” He also added that this tournament will be turned into an annual affair hereafter, not only in New Delhi but also in other metros and major cities.

The evening ended with the prize distribution and a cocktail reception that followed soon after. The winners were Mr. Nand Lal from DDA, the first and second runner up were Mr. Raju Prasad and Mr R A Jamali from Diesel Locomotive Works, Indian Railways. The winner of the handicap category 16 and above was Mr AVM (Retd) AJS Walia, MD – Sikorsky Aircrafts Corporation and winner of the handicap category 0 – 15 was Mrs Neelam Rudy. The key sponsors of the event were AT & T, Coca Cola, KPMG and Xerox.
