Shimla , the capital of Himachal Pradesh has been adjudged the "Best Travel Destination" in the country for the year 2006-2007 in its annual survey conducted by television channel CNBC AWAAZ through research agency NIELSEN in collaborations with CNBC-TV18 news network.

Shimal the queen of seven hills was also adjudged "Best Travel Destination in Health and Rejuvenation" and was also awarded "Best Travel Destination in Adventurous Sports" in annual survey of the news televisions for the year 2006-2007.

Union tourism minister Mrs. Ambika Soni presented these awards to Hhimachal Pradesh tourism minister Sh. G.S. Bali in a function in hotel Eros Iintercontinental, New Delhi. Sh. Subhash Ahluwaia Managing Director HPTDC was also present on the occassion .
