Google Mapping Party in Trivandrum

- IEEE (The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), Kerala Section and CSI (The Computer Society of India), Trivandrum Chapter in association with Google, is organizing a Mapping Party in Trivandrum on February 5, 2010 at the Hotel Residency Towers, Trivandrum.

Trivandrum, Kerala, January 16, 2010 /India PRwire/ -- The Mapping party is aimed at increasing awareness of Google's Mapmaker service with the popular tagline 'Map Your World'. Google's Mapmaker service lets Google Users become citizen cartographers and improve the quality of maps and local information. The event hopes to make Kerala, particularly Trivandrum a better mapped place with relevant local information such as roads, schools, hospitals, banks and such other important places entered by users, having local knowledge.

Presently, a handful of users have started mapping different parts of Kerala. The event aims to increase the user community to a higher figure thus making Kerala, particularly Trivandrum a completely mapped and popular destination in Google Maps.

The event will show participants how to map different places, draw roads, add categories and discuss other features. Experts in Google Mapmaker will present and enlighten the gathering. Cartographers from Google are also expected at the event.

The event is open to the first 100 registrants. Registration is almost full. You can register for the event at http://sites.google.com/site/tvmmappingparty. The only pre-requisite for attending the event is a Laptop, preferably with internet connectivity and zeal for making Kerala a better mapped destination.
