IT and Business: Donations Save Lives in Disaster Areas Corporate Disaster Resource Network is Virtual Marketplace for Humanitarian Assistance New Delhi, India -- When a flood occurs, saving human lives begins with search and rescue, but avoidance of unnecessary deaths occurs when people have safe drinking water. Companies such as Aquatabs, are working in India with the Corporate Disaster Resource Network (http://www.CDRN.org) to make available products and services needed by people affected by disasters.

Aquatabs, a product produced by Medentech, is helping make a difference among nearly a million people in India this year, through the CDRN. These water purification tablets protect the health of people stranded in flooded areas.

The CDRN initiative is an IT solution developed by Aidmatrix Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides supply chain management technologies developed in the U.S. business sector to improve the impacts of humanitarian assistance around the world. Rapidly becoming the global data standard for humanitarian work, Aidmatrix IT connects the private sector, government, and non profit organizations to increase capabilities while managing increased demands and constrained budgets.

Vijay Malik the Country Director of Medentech the producers of Aquatabs, commented, “When I met with Kuldip Nar the Director of Aidmatrix India, I was so impressed by his passionate belief that together, we have the ability to make every product, every dollar, every mouse-click go further. I saw that unlike any other initiative, CDRN is identifying the needs of the people who are really suffering and then bringing people together help them.”

Without these simple solutions people and medical support personnel in flood affected areas are likely to be overwhelmed by outbreak of epidemics given the inhospitable living conditions in flooded districts.

Malik added, “Not only are business donors pleased to make donations to such a worthy initiative, but people affected by disasters are pleased to have access to quality products, variety of products, and choice in the donations they accept. This on-line marketplace for humanitarian assistance gets the right aid to the right people when and where they need it most. It makes sense doesn’t it?”

An initiative of the Corporate Task Force, of the India National Disaster Management Authority, CDRN is an initiative of CSO Partners and Aidmatrix Foundation. Kuldip Nar furthered, “At Aidmatrix we are only as strong as our partners, which is why we partner with some of the most globally respected entities and donors and team up with governments to help maximize positive impact.”

Aquatabs is the global leading brand of rapid dissolving water purification tablets. Aquatabs are produced by Medentech, a manufacturer based in Ireland, with distribution in 60 countries. Medentech is committed to reducing infection and improving access to safe drinking water by developing, manufacturing and marketing cost-effective disinfection solutions.
