First "Global Security Conference" Commences in New Delhi

Hon'ble President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil inaugurates the International Conference Global experts discuss issues pertaining to global security, Security Employees Welfare Action (SEWA) Program Launched

Bengaluru, Karnataka, December 5, 2009 /India PRwire/ -- India takes center-stage globally, on security issues, with the commencement of the first ever "Global Security Conference" held in the country. The two day international event was inaugurated by Hon'ble President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil, making her the first ever head of a country to inaugurate such an event related to security, exemplifying India's tenacity in maintaining peace and harmony across the world and region.

With a theme titled "Global Security 2009 - Initiatives, Knowledge and Employability", the participants attending the conference deliberated on issues, challenges and way forward for the enhancing security in India and globally as well. Participants, who include global leaders, including heads of states, bureaucracy, central and state government agencies, leading private security companies and corporate houses, from over 20 countries are attending the conference.

The event also witnessed the grand launch of Security Employees Welfare Actions (SEWA) Program, specifically for the private security industry. Under this program, several welfare schemes were launched for benefiting the employees of Private security industry aimed at alleviating some pertinent social and economic issues.

Launching of affordable green housing schemes for private guarding personnel at all levels is the first of its kind endeavour aimed at providing quality life. This includes setting up of subsidized housing societies costing up to a maximum Rs. 5 Lakhs.

Tie-up with Brilliant Tutorials to provide free coaching for Engineering/Medicals to 50 children belonging to security guards based on an assessment test. This also includes providing subsidized education at Brilliant tutorials to the children of guards who are bright and have a burning desire to excel.

"Secure the Girl Child" is primarily targeted at providing socio-economic support to girl child covering education and marriage costs. The total amount spent would be around 1.5 lakhs per child and would be given to each girl child in installments from birth till their marriage. In addition, this novel initiative will help in their empowerment and capacity building.

The first ever global conference on security is a collaborative effort of CAPSI and APDI with a mission to highlight the issues in the wake of global terror threats and mitigate the risks across the globe and ensure a peaceful and secure world.
