"Innovations for India, by India" says Mr. Sachin Duggal, CEO, Nivio at the India Economic Summit '09
Mr. Sachin Duggal, President and Chief Executive Officer, Nivio, winner of the Technology Pioneer Award at World Economic Forum, Davos 2009, was part of the panel.
Tweet-- The India Economic Summit organized by World Economic Forum concluded in Delhi and saw the participation of many eminent leaders from all parts of the world. Mr. Sachin Duggal, President and Chief Executive Officer, Nivio, winner of the Technology Pioneer Award at World Economic Forum, Davos 2009 was amongst one of them. He was also part of the panel on "Creating the Next Indovations" which had its focus on innovations in India.
Other speakers included Mr. Sam Pitroda, Adviser to Prime Minister on Public Information Infrastructure and Innovations; Mr. Som Mittal, President, National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) and Mr. Ravi Pandit, Chairman and Group Chief Executive Officer, KPIT Cummins Infosystems. Speakers had gathered to discuss concrete steps on how India must leverage its strengths in science, technology and R&D. They also talked about steps that should be taken by leaders from government and business organizations to realise this potential. The co founder of Nivio, Mr. Saurabh Dhoot was also present at the occasion.
Speaking at the occasion, Mr Sachin Duggal said "We look at innovation as a key answer to how we solve problems. Cloud computing is not just an IT solution, but a means for reducing cost, facilitating access to education and computing in general. At Nivio, Saurabh and I have a dream to change lives by connecting the unconnected and educating a hundred million children before we die."
"On a larger scale, it is important to make it easy for underdeveloped world to access computing, software and digital content. There also needs to be a change in the way computing is perceived to truly make it accessible for all." added Mr Duggal.
Mr Duggal, who has recently been appointed as the Youth Leader of the National Computer and Electronics Committee of ASSOCHAM, concluded by saying "Do we continue to innovate for the world or do we innovate for us? I think we need to start dreaming again. This is for her - our magnificent country- not just us. "
The forum presented a good opportunity for leaders to share their thoughts and look at solutions moving towards the future.
