World's latest visual computing technology showcased at "Visual Computing Seminar" hosted by NVIDIA, TiE and HYSEA
Leaders from government, industrial and corporate communities gather to learn more about revolutionary technology and see hands-on demos
Tweet-- For the first time, India’s leading institutes, manufacturers, IT innovators and public bodies have come together to discuss the future of world’s most revolutionary computing technology: the graphics processing unit (GPU). This Visual Computing Seminar will take place in Hyderabad and has been organised by NVIDIA in association with TiE Hyderabad and HYSEA.
“TiE is pleased to associate and support event like the Visual Computing Seminar as it is in line with our goal to provide networking opportunities and foster growth of the Indian IT industry globally,” said J A Chowdary, President of TiE. “The GPU has moved far beyond its gaming origins. This computer chip now makes powerful home PCs more affordable, helps businesses to reduce their costs and provides scientists with supercomputers right on their desks. Our engineers are playing a significant role in the design and development of competitive technologies. Products like Tegra, displayed today at the event, demonstrate our ability to create world class IT products here in Hyderabad and contribute to building Brand India.”
Mr. Narasimha Rao, President of HYSEA, added: “At HYSEA our aim is to accelerate the growth of IT and help expand global recognition for companies operating in this region. We hope events like this Visual Computing Seminar will help the IT community in Hyderabad to experience and get to know world’s most talked about technologies and exploit the immense business opportunity it offers to the IT industry.”
At the Hyderabad Visual Computing Seminar NVIDIA demonstrated three optimised and three non-optimised PC systems currently available from retailers in India. Attendees saw how balancing a consumer’s investment by using a more powerful GPU and a less powerful CPU can actually deliver a system which gives higher performance for an equal or lower cost. The ability to optimise PCs is a vital sales tool for manufacturers and system builders wanting to offer attractive deals to their customers, particularly in an intensely price-conscious market like India.
NVIDIA has created an online tool which allows users to see for themselves how specifying different combinations of GPU and CPU will affect the price and performance of a PC. The Optimised PC Configurator is available at www.nvidia.in/balancedpc.
The NVIDIA Design Centre in Hyderabad has made a significant contribution to the development of our Tegra products. This applications processor technology brings the rich visual computing experience consumers have come to expect from their PC to smartphones and mobile internet devices. The Hyderabad team is particularly proud of devising the world’s lowest power consuming application processors which enable unprecedented battery life for activities such as watching high-definition movies, taking photos, browsing the web and listening to music, not to mention making phone calls!
The seminar featured eminent industry experts who discussed innovation, design and deployment of the most up-to-date GPU cutting edge technologies in the modern era. As well as hands-on demos of the latest GPU technology, attendees saw demonstrations of:
· GPUs for mobile phones
· Netbooks which deliver a premium visual computing experience in a small form factor
· Optimised PCs which combine cost benefits with performance improvements
· GPU technology which is unlocking the parallel processing power of the GPU to enhance scientific, commercial, industrial and home computing
· New gaming technology, including NVIDIA PhysX physics effects and 3D Vision, for a truly immersive 3D experience
