Microsoft India Global Technical Support Centre celebrates five years
Celebrating five years of excellence, with great people - 1200 engineers, working on the cutting edge technology and making a global footprint working with customers and partners across enterprises.

Microsoft’s Global Technical Support Centre (GTSC) India completes five years of operations in India, a significant milestone for the business, which has achieved success within a short period. When the India GTSC was set up in October 2003 it started with supporting only the America customers, but today it has a truly global footprint working with Microsoft’s enterprise customers in America, Europe, ANZ and India. It has contributed greatly to the Indian Services Industry, by moving it up the value chain in terms of people, capabilities and creditability. The India GTSC is one of the largest sites outside of the Americas today, and also one of the only sites that works with enterprise customers from multiple regions, thereby giving the global business an advantage in evaluating new practices that provide further value to our customers and partners globally.
The theme for the 5 year celebrations was ‘My Pride’, which centered on the unique value that every engineer brings to the India GTSC business. There were a number of on-ground activities that set the tone for the final grand celebration. Everyone could create videos, pictures, presentations that depicted what ‘Life at the India GTSC’ meant to them, all submissions were opened across the organization for employees to vote on and the top three received prizes at the final event evening. The creativity was astounding; the submissions captured various facets of the India GTSC strung together beautifully. Additionally there were also daily quizzes, graffiti boards for people to post their thoughts, employee performance practices for the big day and a photo studio set up for people to take their pictures and post it on various display items. It was a great culmination to a great five years.
Marlena Werder, Vice President, Commercial Technical Support, Microsoft CSS, was present for the final celebrations, with employees and families. Her presence marked the global support that India GTSC has established in its five years of operations, she said “Microsoft India GTSC has been creating waves, being the face of Microsoft to many of our customers and partners, we are proud of the results being delivered here. India GTSC has not just met business expectations, but has grown to become one of our most valued units - consistently and successfully helping grow our partners’ businesses globally.”
Marking the five year celebrations, Sashi Kumar, General Manager, Microsoft India GTSC, said “From the early days of set up, way back in 2003 to an organization of 1200 employees today it’s been an amazing journey. We focused on three key areas of impact, People, Technology and Business Excellence, this is core to what we do and we constantly look for ways to improve and impact the global business along these lines. Achieving these results would certainly not be possible without the support and commitment that we have received from our global stakeholders, who have constantly been there for us. I think the technical talent we have in India has great potential to do more and be more, we would like to make that come true. The engineers we have in our business are certainly our greatest asset. We look forward to many more years of this amazing journey'.
