The Acer, Intel & Economic Times Smart Workplace Awards Conclude

Tweet-- The definition of a ‘SMART OFFICE’ was redefined late last Thursday, July 17th evening as 20 companies were designated and awarded the smart offices of the country among more than 600 others who also applied for the same. It was concluded that technology is just one integral part and other elements such global working standards, security, meeting employee needs through better offices, infrastructure and facilities make better and smarter offices. The awards were given in the respective categories such as Financial services (FS), Other Services (OS), Industrial markets (IM), Consumer markets (CM), Infrastructure (I) and Information-communication-entertainment (ICE).
“Companies that have been recognized as having leading cultures, consistently outperform their peers on the stock market over the long run,’’ said S Rajendran, CMO at Acer. “It is not just the biggies who were targeted,’’ he continued. “The award goes beyond the insular world of technology, to the all encompassing bonhomie within the team. The spectrum of practices in place with some of the smaller organizations was humbling.’’
Some of the top industrialists were present to give away these awards on the profiles of Mr. Aniruddh Dhoot, Director Videocon Group, Neeraj Roy, MD Virtual Marketing, Hungama.com, Harish Bijoor, Brand-expert & CEO, Harish Bijoor Consults Inc, Dr. Sujaya Bannerjee, Chief Learning Officer, Essar Group, Mr. Sanjay Muthal, President, Nicholas Piramal, film marketing professional Mr. Vikramjit Roy, and CEO of Mahindra SSG Captian Raghu Raman.
Videocon Director Anirudh Dhoot, who was the chief guest, said “A smart workplace is not just a question of environment. It is the overall efficiency and recognition that a firm gains, which promotes core values and ethical standards. This, in turn, forges a strong link between people and performance.’’
To give the event some more pizzazz there was a performance by ace stand up comedian Vir Das and special dance performances from the Chak De Captain – Ms. Vidya Malvade.
About The Awards:
Acer and Intel along with The Economic Times launched The Smart Workplace Awards at the end of April 2008 and they were aimed mainly to recognize offices that are “Smart” through making life easy for employees and when on move, empowering them to stay connected to the work sphere through the use of technology. These awards are a first of its kind and being a nationwide concept, they are aimed at getting together the Chief Technology Officers and Chief Information Officers in more than 20,000 business entities in India to participate.
There were 11 cities - Delhi NCR, Chandigargh, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Cochin and Kolkatta from which entries were invited. Each city was visited by a Jury which comprised of members from PriceWaterhouseCoopers and the Times Group.
We had 550 entries, out of which 86 were finalized on fulfilling all parameters of entry. These companies were visited by the jury and judged on Technology infrastructure, Security & Mobility, Office infrastructure and Employee engagement. Companies were small, medium or large in the categories of Financial services (FS), Other Services (OS), Industrial markets (IM), Consumer markets (CM), Infrastructure (I) and Information-communication-entertainment (ICE).
The awards are being presented by The Economic Times. The main sponsors are Acer Intel. Knowledge Partner is PriceWaterhouseCoopers.
