LG pioneers in bringing blu-ray technology in India
LG introduces world's First Blu-Ray Optical Storage Drive Capable of 4X Recording A Blu-Ray Disc can store upto 25 GB on a single Disc and on a dual layer disc 50GB

Reaffirming its position as the global leader in optical storage drives, LG Electronics announced the launch of Blu-ray-enabled version of its popular Super-Multi optical storage drive series. Available in an internal drive configuration (GBW-H10N) the new LG Blu-ray Disc Rewriter satisfies consumers' need for higher-quality video and audio rewriting combined with the greater storage capacity enabled by next generation of optical disc formats.
Blu-ray is the next-generation optical disc format, jointly developed by the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA), an alliance of the world's leading consumer electronics, personal computer and media manufacturers. Blu-ray was developed to enable recording, rewriting and playback of high-definition video (HD), as well as storing large amounts of data. The format offers more than five times the storage capacity of traditional DVDs and can hold up to 25GB on a single-layer disc and 50GB on a dual-layer disc. This is as much as a hard drive. This extra capacity combined with the use of advanced video and audio will offer consumers an unprecedented experience. Using Blu-Ray technology for data storage provides multiple benefits vs. existing formats.
The LG Blu-ray Disc Rewriter combines cutting edge Blu-ray technology with all other optical disc formats such as DVD, DVD±R, DVD±RW, and DVD-RAM. This "Super-Multi" capability was pioneered by LG providing unparalleled convenience to the end user. Compatibility with all recordable disc formats takes the complexity and guesswork out of purchasing blank media.
The GBW-H10N is capable of burning at 4x speed for BD-R and 2x speed for BD-RE (Rewritable disc), and is also capable of writing on DVD-RAM media at 5x. With a majority of the upcoming Blu-ray burners supporting only 2x recording, LG once again breaks new ground in this rapidly emerging category.
According to Mr. R. Manikandan, General Manager, Sales and Marketing, IT Division, "With the need for greater quality and higher storage capacity, LG's Blu-Ray Disc Drive will have a significant impact in the disc drive category. As a global leader in the optical storage market, our Blu-ray Disc Rewriter is a further testament of our dedication to providing leading-edge technology."
