Wrigley's Orbit® and IDA Conducts free dental check-ups for underprivileged
Tweet-- Wrigley’s Orbit® sugar free chewing gum in partnership with the Indian Dental Association (IDA) has initiated free dental check-ups for the underprivileged as part of the ‘Mumbai Smiles’ digital campaign. Face book (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Mumbai/Mumbai-Smiles/147681424617), Orkut (http://www.orkut.co.in/Main#Community?cmm=94619720) and twitter (http://twitter.com/mumbaismiles) accounts have been created where each click will contribute towards a free dental check-up for an underprivileged person. This online campaign will run till 10thOctober.
The free dental check-up organised by Wrigley’s Orbit® sugar-free chewing gum and IDA has been designed keeping in mind the oral care requirements of citizens who have limited access to dental care. The dentists will not only provide dental check-ups but will also educate families on good oral hygiene practices.
Wrigley has launched an online campaign through which each one can contribute towards this noble cause. Lt. Gen. Dr. Paramjit Singh, President IDA said “Dental care in India still remains a neglected area. Tooth decay has become common at a comparatively younger age due to neglected dental care. Through this initiative IDA and Orbit® sugar-free chewing gum is trying to generate awareness on dental health and oral regime”.
Dr Ashok Dhoble, Hon Secretary General, IDA said “I am pleased that Wrigley’s Orbit sugar-free chewing gum and IDA have undertaken the initiative to reach out to the underprivileged families. I urge people to participate in Mumbai Smiles and also spread the message of oral health to all.”
Gautam Sharma, MD, Wrigley India, said “Wrigley’s Orbit®, India’s no.1 sugar-free chewing gum is dedicated towards building awareness about oral health in India. This initiative further strengthens our commitment and is one of the many steps through which we are planning to drive education about the need for oral health and hygiene.”
The initiative by Wrigley’s Orbit® sugar-free chewing gum and Indian Dental Association (IDA) to reach out to the underprivileged children is a result of the Mumbai Smiles, the largest ever oral care marathon. The theme is further reinforced by the Indian government’s ambitious plan of ‘Oral Health for All by 2020’.
