In a glittering ceremony held today in Sydney, an agreement was signed between Professor Janice Reid, Vice- Chancellor, University of Western Sydney(UWS) and Daljit Singh Gujral, Managing Director, INSCOL to offer a unique study program for nurses to upgrade their diplomas to Bachelor in Nursing degree. The ceremony was attended by senior dignitaries from the University including the pro-Vice Chancellor, Dean, Director International, Associate Dean and was also represented from INSCOL by Manjit Gujral & Surjit Gujral.

The newly established and customised study program would give nurses from India, and particularly those from Punjab, an opportunity to enhance their knowledge and to be acquainted with best international nursing practices - which in turn, would assist them, take up the global challenges of the ever changing healthcare scenario. The students would have to complete a foundation course at INSCOL’s facilities in Chandigarh before commencing the nursing study program at the University’s campus in Sydney. The first cohort of 25 students would start their studies in January’09.

University of Western Sydney is Australia’s major urban university spread over six campuses in Greater Western Sydney. The School of Nursing at this University is recognised as a national leader in nursing and midwifery education, research and scholarship, with the largest undergraduate nursing degree program in Australia and are committed to providing students with a contemporary, quality education in a stimulating and rewarding environment.

INSCOL, through its partner Universities in UK, Australia and soon in Canada, is the largest provider of post registration nursing education in India. Since 2004, more than 700 nurses, mainly from Punjab, who have enrolled into the GLOBAL NURSE PROGRAM, have benefited immensely from these new learning opportunities and have been able to take up challenging assignments in UK, USA, Canada and Australia.
