PerkinElmer expands EcoAnalytix™ Initiative to India; Strengthens Global Application Development

New EcoAnalytix™ Application Center in Mumbai Delivers Solutions to Improve the Quality of the Environment, Food and Energy Sources

(NYSE: PKI), a global technology leader in Health Sciences and Photonics, today announced the expansion of its health and environmental focus to India with the opening of a new global EcoAnalytixTM application and technical center in Mumbai.

The EcoAnalytix application center will be dedicated to application development and methods optimization for a range of scientific and industrial laboratory applications including environmental monitoring, food safety and sustainable energy.

On the eve of the opening of the EcoAnalytix application and technical center in Mumbai PerkinElmer’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Robert Friel, remarked that “We are pleased with the progress we have made in India to date and feel that today’s announcement demonstrates our commitment to making significant and long-term investments in India and the Asia-Pacific region that support the expansion of the health and environmental infrastructures of emerging growth nations,” . “The expansion of our global EcoAnalytix initiative to India helps ensure that our ecosystem and public health and safety are preserved now and for future generations”, he added.

According to Mr Jai Shankar, President, PerkinElmer India, the Center apart from providing the Indian customers early access to the applications would boost the company’s overall growth in analytical sciences market locally.

Mr Shankar further stated that Center will aid in delivering set of analysis required for a given application or market such as water analysis in the environmental market, food safety/quality analysis in the food and beverage market and biofuels and solar energy analysis in the sustainable energy market.

EcoAnalytix is PerkinElmer’s collaborative problem-solving initiative that creates application-based solutions to improve business ecosystems, while supporting local, regional and global initiatives that contribute to a healthier ecosystem worldwide.

PerkinElmer India currently serves 1500 clients across various verticals including pharma, government bodies, environmental, petrochemical and chemical.

Currently, the Indian Life and Analytical Sciences market is estimated to be approx Rs 2700 crore and expected to touch the Rs 4,000-crore mark by 2010 indicating a 12 pecent annual growth. The estimated relevant business market for PerkinElmer is around Rs 1,840 crore as per SDI
