After the most dangerous outbreak in west Bengal, as there is scare of outbreak of bird-flue in Punjab. Prices of poultry products are declining in all over India. Punjab Government is in the difficult situation.

Punjab state veterinary doctors association (regd), Punjab (PSVDA) has taken note of the situation. here held a meeting of RVO`s of Punjab state. In the meeting, state president, PSVDA, .Dr.Abdul Mazid allegely said that Punjab Government is deaf to the genuine demands of veterinary doctors. They have been kept on contract due to indifferent attitude of Punjab Government towards veterinary services in Punjab. Dairy farming is on cross-roads.

Taking notice of situation of bird-flue , state president ,PSVDA ,said if outbreak of bird-flue occurs in Punjab , Rural Veterinary Officers have decided not to take part in Punjab Government’s drive against bird flue. He said," bird-flue is a life threatening disease and may contract infection to vets and may cost even life of bird handling personal, when handling diseased poultry birds. But as vets kept on contract do not have any type of job security; neither have they had any provision of medical allowance in case of infection from poultry animals. Therefore contractual vets will be unable to participate in bird flue eradication program".

In this way PSVDA has sent a memorandum to director, Rural dept and Panchayats, director, animal husbandry, Punjab and additional deputy commissioners (dept) of all districts of Punjab, in which PSVDA has intimated their grievances to Punjab Government and urged to start process to regularize their services, otherwise all RVO`s along with their staff of Punjab state will not be able to participate in bird-flue eradication program, if bird-flue outbreak occurs in Punjab.
