As many as 227 exhibitors and 6 media partners attended from 19 countries including Austria, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Kenya, Korea, Mexico, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sri Lanka, Turkey, UK and USA. The show recorded 7,056 visitors from 37 countries out of which 73% had direct or recommended purchase authority.
The 2007 edition enjoyed support from 9 leading international trade associations as well as local support from AMC – Agramarketing Centre, Hungary. These facts are supported by Thomas Gurtler from Handl Tyrol Gmbh who commented:
“The quality of visitors at IFE Foodapest has been excellent. We met influential people from Cora and Tesco and were also able to present our traditional speciality foods to big retailers like Metro, Spar and Kaiser. We reached all our goals at the show and expect to grow our business in Hungary by 50% every year. It is great market for us.”
Also commenting on the success of the 2007 show, Edit Szabo of AMC said: “The union between IFE Hungary and Foodapest has created the only truly international food and drinks trade show for the entire region. The event has been a very successful marketing tool for us and has provided an excellent platform for interaction with the industry.”
IFE Foodapest has established itself as the most important international trade fair for the food, drink and hospitality industry in Eastern Europe. As the European Union opens its doors to new member states such as Romania & Bulgaria, IFE Foodapest will continue to offer solutions to the new trade opportunities that arise from this growth market.
IFE Foodapest will take place once more at Hungexpo Budapest Fair Centre, Budapest, from 18 – 20 November 2008. Organisers expect to significantly grow the size of the show, the number of exhibiting companies and the volume of visitors.
