-- Crown Records Management, the world's number one private business information storage company, received a RoSPA Gold Award and achieved ISO 18001:2007 accreditation across all its UK and Ireland sites.
The Gold RoSPA Award, which follows a Silver Award that was presented to Crown in 2008, is presented in recognition of Crown's comprehensive health and safety policies and low number of accidents. This year's Gold Award was received at a ceremony in Birmingham, England on May 14, 2009 by Tony Milner, Crown site supervisor from Peterborough.
Managing Director Frank Hopping said: “We take the matter of proactive health and safety awareness seriously throughout Crown Records Management and these achievements were a real team effort. Every employee demonstrated a high level of dedication and worked to ensure that health and safety always forms an integral part of our operations.”
David Rawlins, RoSPA Awards Manager, added: “Crown Records Management has shown commitment to protecting the health and well being of its employees and others. Good health and safety represents good business and such awards are more important than ever, as they demonstrate that employers care about their staff and will not let their standards slip even during tough economic times.”
The RoSPA Occupational health and Safety Awards are sponsored by NEBOSH (The National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health), the UK's leading health and safety professional examining body. They focus not only on reducing the number of accidents and cases of ill-health at work, but also help to ensure that organizations have good health and safety management systems in place.
The OHSAS 18001: 2007 is an internationally recognized specification which verifies that the company has established an OH&S management system to eliminate or minimize risk to employees and other interested parties who might be exposed to OH&S risks associated with its activities, implemented, maintained and continually improves an OH&S management system, assured itself of its conformance with its stated OH&S policy, demonstrated such conformance to others and sought certification/registration of its OH&S management system by an external organization Ted Jelliss, Crown's safety, health, quality and environment manager commented, "This award was achieved only because all employees demonstrated a high degree of commitment, making occupational health and safety an integral part of our operations; a real team effort."
