Shri Anil Bhan, Circle Head of Punjab National Bank, Pune Circle proudly announces the opening of Bank’s 16 th Branch in Pune City, which shall commence its operations w.e.f 05.12.2008. With the opening of a new branch at Hinjewadi, Pune Circle of the Bank which covers 9 Districts of Western Maharashtra will have a total of 50 offices under its jurisdiction.

Bank has gained the goodwill of its around 370 lac customers earning a strong brand image as one of the India’s most trusted Bank. Bank’s total business has already crossed the landmark of Rs 3,25,000 crores.

In our quest to satisfy the diverse requirements of our customers and deliver the Banking products and services at their doorsteps, in Pune Circle, we have opened 6 more branches during the last one year. As an additional delivery channel and to provide 365x24x7 Any Where Any Time Banking service, we have provided 26 more ATMs taking the number to 44 ATM’s. Through Internet Banking we are facilitating the Banking operations at the comfort and convenience of our customers even from their bedrooms.

Despite the current scenario of global financial turmoil and domestic banking stress, our march ahead continues unabated which gets clearly reflected that Pune Circle’s Total Business has increased from Rs 2692 crores in March ’08 to Rs 3230 crores registering a growth of 20 %. In the matter of lending /loans to our customers our credit portfolio has increased to approx Rs 1100 crores registering a growth of approx 35 %.

We are committed to meet the aspirations of individuals for their basic necessities like Home Loans, Car Loans, Education Loans etc. During the current financial year alone we have disbursed more than Rs 175 crores under various Retail schemes.

Providing hassle free loans to young students to pursue higher studies is our focus area. During the current financial year, we have sanctioned loans of Rs 10.54 crores to 280 students. To inculcate the banking habit in young students and poor strata of society, we have provided the facility of Zero balance PNB Vidyarthi and PNB Mitra accounts, with no service charges to be levied.

We strongly believe that Agriculture is the backbone of the economy and therefore our focus has been on lending to farmers. Our Baramati Branch which has been opened on 13.10.2008, has already advanced more than Rs 10 crores loans to agriculturists and farmers. In Pune Circle, with a view to provide relief to distressed farmers we have waived/written off Agriculture loans of Rs 551 lacs of 1689 farmers and our branches are presently engaged in fresh lending to such farmers whose loans have been waived/written off.

Keeping in view the fact that Hinjewadi has developed as an important IT Hub of the country, our new branch at Hinjewadi shall be providing the most techno savvy Banking services with ATM facility not only to IT professionals and IT companies but shall also be focusing on Agriculture lending and loans to small and medium enterprises.
