The AGS Infotech – Wincor Nixdorf biometric ATM launched by Central Bank promises to cater to the banking needs of rural India and accelerate the ongoing efforts to facilitate Financial Inclusion.

Central Bank has installed the AGS Infotech- Wincor Nixdorf Kisan ATM at Muzzafarpur in Bihar.

This biometric ATM replaces personal identity number (PIN) with thumb impression.

The Fingerprint Scanner fitted in the machine that only recognizes the customer’s thumb impression will prove a major relief to people in rural areas.

The Kisan ATM is designed for rural India. It incorporates Video & Voice Animation system coupled with single-touch application that will make things not only easier and safer for farmers who will not have to depend on others for withdrawing money from ATMs.

The ATM is from Wincor Nixdorf whereas the integration with fingerprint scanner and the development of Single Touch Transaction has been by AGS Infotech.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sunil Udupa, CEO & President AGS Infotech, said,

“Kisan ATMs work in the same way as a normal ATM. However, keeping in mind that the Rural Banker is a simple person with simple needs and most often cannot read or write, we have incorporated features like fingerprint verification and voice guided animated screens with one touch-enabled transaction, leaving no place for complex navigation menus in our ATMs. Recently Dena Bank, Andhra Bank and Union Bank have installed our biometric ATMs in Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu respectively. ”

This launch follows the Union Budget wherein a lot of emphasis was laid on Financial Inclusion and Banking for Rural India.
