Fropper.com launches Ecoganpati.com
Come join the movement to create maximum awareness about environmental pollution created by PoP Ganesh idols & harmful chemicals used in making of the same!
Tweet-- As you know, in Mumbai every year 70,000-80,000 Ganpati idols are immersed at about 50 places during Ganesh Chaturthi. This festival brings together millions of people but in modern times is also contributing to serious environmental pollution. Besides the noise created by the several Ganesh mandals during the festival, the immersion of idols made out of chemical materials causes significant water pollution. The traditional mud idols have been replaced by Plaster of Paris (PoP) statues which are then painted using toxic chemical dyes to make them bright and attractive to buyers. These materials poison water bodies by increasing chemical and organic content. In the process, ecosystems in these water bodies get harmed and plant and fish species die in large numbers.
To prevent this harmful effect and to give a dignified farewell to Lord Ganesha, Fropper.com is promoting www.ecoganpati.com, which has been designed & thought over by one of its members and the company is helping him give the initiative a much larger picture & benefit our society in the long run.
Ecoganpati.com is a community which is creating maximum awareness about the mis-handling of emersion of Ganesh idols and the usage of Plaster of Paris for idols, which is creating major Environmental Hazards. The website works as a movement which beckons people to come forward and sign the petition against the social mis-hap. The petition will then be forwarded to the Govt. authorities for their consideration& seeking help in creating the festival a cleaner & healthier event to be remembered for the coming year.
I would request you to kindly go through the website (www.ecoganpati.com) & revert with feedback as to how can we take the same forward and help create maximum awareness around the social hazards created.
