WATCHMEN arrives on the home entertainment

The hugely-anticipated, gritty and sinister big-screen adaptation of the most celebrated graphic novel of all time, WATCHMEN arrives on the home entertainment format, on January 28, 2010.

Mumbai, Maharashtra, January 29, 2010 /India PRwire/ -- The hugely-anticipated, gritty and sinister big-screen adaptation of the most celebrated graphic novel of all time, WATCHMEN arrives on the home entertainment format, on January 28, 2010. Watchmen has raked in more than $181 Million in worldwide box-office collections. This visually spectacular film, directed by Zack Snyder (300), is based on the 80s comic book series of the same name created by Alan Moore and illustrated by Dave Gibbons. WATCHMEN is the only graphic novel to appear on Time magazine's list of "100 best English-language novels".

A complex and multi-layered mystery adventure, WATCHMEN is set in an alternate 1985 America; a world darkened by fear and paranoia in which costumed superheroes are part of the fabric of everyday society, and the Doomsday Clock - which charts the USA's tension with the Soviet Union - moves closer to nuclear midnight.

When a former colleague, The Comedian (Jeffrey Dean Morgan - TVs Grey's Anatomy) is murdered, the outlawed but no less determined masked vigilante Rorschach (Jackie Earle Haley - Semi-Pro) sets out to uncover a plot to kill and discredit all past and present superheroes. As Rorschach reconnects with his former crime-fighting legion, a disbanded group of retired superheroes, including Nite Owl II (Patrick Wilson - Lakeview Terrace), Silk Spectre II (Malin Akerman - The Heartbreak Kid), Ozymandias (Matthew Goode - Brideshead Revisited) and Dr. Manhattan (Billy Crudup - Mission: Impossible III), the only one who has true powers - he glimpses a disturbing conspiracy with links to their shared past and catastrophic consequences for the future. Together, the heroes must expose a sinister plan that puts the human race and their own existence in grave danger. Their mission is to watch over humanity... but who is watching the Watchmen?

The DVD version of WATCHMEN (MRP Rs. 599/-) will give audiences a stunning experience through a DVD Special Feature Mechanics: Technologies of a Fantastic World. WATCHMEN is also being released on the VCD English (MRP 299 /-) and VCD Hindi (MRP 99 /-) formats.

Roger Ebert, the famous film critic, has given WATCHMEN a rating of four out of four stars. To quote him, "It's a compelling visceral film - sound, images and characters combined into a decidedly odd visual experience that evokes the feel of a graphic novel."

In an exclusive marketing promotion, Rorschach and Silk Spectre, two superheroes from WATCHMEN, will visit malls and interact with people in 'Meet and Greet the Watchmen' sessions. This promotional campaign will be covered in radio and press. WATCHMEN is also being promoted through contests in relevant magazines like T3, Chip and Rolling Stone.
